I'm currently watching The Fall tv show. Very good show with Gillian Anderson who managed to make us forget Agent Scully. So dark through the nocturnal preparations of assassinations by the killer in the streets of Belfast as in the study of the characters psychology. Very satisfied to find the delightful Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife), Laura Donnelly (Outlander) and John Lynch (eternal Paul Hill Jim Sheridan 's "In The Name of The Father").

We saw Skyscraper yesterday. Ludicrous plot, unrealistic use of tech, brainless baddies... Dwayne Johnson, it was a fun 1:40!! Towering Inferno meets Die Hard, inferior on both counts but still a 7/10.

I have owned one 3-D capable TV for few years, and this was my first time trying it out with the powered glasses and all.  The 3-D fx of the film were excellent.  I would not expect with most movies it would matter much, but with this one it did.  As far as the story itself, interesting and thought provoking, although, not a lot of new ideas.  7/10

I saw "The Death of Stalin" on my last flight. Very dark humor, some great character acting turns.

Of course, for the purposes of the story, there have to be historical glitches, but it does a great job of telling a totalitarian tale.

^^^ Apparently it is pretty faithful to events as they transpired. They may have twisted things for the story and comedic effect, but sometimes realt life doesn't need to be tweaked to achieve that.

Anyway, today I saw Mission: Impossible - Fallout. It's the usual mix of espionage, double crossing, stunts and chases performed with its usual panache. Some elements are too unrealistic for its own good, but generally it is pretty good. I won't give plot points away but at one stage there is a 15 minute countdown.... which takes a good 30 minutes of screen time to complete... why not just make it a 30 minute countdown FFS!! 7.5/10

Gran Torino. Masterpiece.

I'm somewhat emotional these days, especially when I see a sad dog. I admit that I cried at the end last night.
