Watched with a friend who had never seen it.  Number 31 on my top 50.

The acting of the character Marcus, one of the twins of the movie, is absolutely heartbreaking.
Eastwood wanted twins who had never played in a movie. He was right.
Matt Damon shows his talent, all in accuracy and sobriety.

Some nice twists in this one, plus I like watching Monica Potter. 7.5/10

This movie gets good reviews but I thought it fucking sucked big time. The special effects were good but the story and acting was subpar.

^^^^^^
Agreed.  Sometimes it seems like the better the special effects get in these remakes, the worse all other aspects of the film are.

^^^ Yeah a lot of these movies are heavy on FX but low on good storytelling.

We saw Incredibles 2 this afternoon. It's great, a worthy sequel to one of my favourite Pixar films. It's slick and entertaining, an interesting story and the development of Jack Jack is fun! It is very much in the mold of the first one so don't expect anything substantially new, which is maybe it's one drawback in that there is no "wow" factor to raise it above the rest. 9/10

^^^^Haven't seen that one...need to check it out I think...

But tonight I watched an old childhood favourite also featuring the great Charlie Sheen...

THE ROOKIE

Action legend Clint Eastwood partners up with young Charlie Sheen in hunt for a vicious car thief played brilliantly by Raul Julia.

There is a perfect mix of action and comedy coupled with great one liners and good old fashioned guy attitude. And the movie also features somethin that is rarely seen on movies, the main character gets raped by a delicious female villain played by Sonia Braga. That scene alone makes this stand out.

Clint also directed this with his usual masterful touch adding some interesting camera angles and drives.

This is one of Clint's last pure action movies and he proved that he still had what it took show the young gun how it's done.

I absolutely loved this growing up and watched it many many times but it has been almost 20 years since I've last seen it and I have to say it hasn't lost a beat. Sure car chases nowadays are bigger and flashier as are explosions and shootouts but there is still that PRESENSE that hasn't diminished one bit and something that is rarely seen anymore these days.
I can easily say this is still one of my favourite Clint movies...and it has earned the right to be called a classic.
