The last couple of films I've seen are Book Club and Ocean's 8.

The girlfiend really liked Book Club, and while it wasn't completly rubbish it really isn't my sort of film. 5/10

Ocean's 8 was quite fun. A little far fetched and implausibel but you don't expect highbrow art with an Ocean's film! 7/10

I think we have had a discussion like this before. We compared top movies.

I go back and forth with Jaws and Halloween as my top 2

Just saw Incredibles 2.

First off - if you have epilepsy triggered by flashing lights, don't see the movie. Your epilepsy will be triggered by flashing lights in numerous scenes.

If you don't, then you can enjoy this one. I liked the family angle on the movie and how the family issues are sorted out in order to make everyone in the family stronger for it. Bob Odenkirk does a great voice turn and the humor in the film is real and is from the heart. Cars 2 was a disappointment - Incredibles 2 is a pleasure. Not as epically emotional as Up or Inside Out, but a good-time popcorn-muncher.

Is there some sort of social message in having Freezone and Elastigirl do most of the heavy lifting? Maybe, but it *is* about time that superheroes get some equal opportunity, thank you Black Panther and Wonder Woman. If there is a social message in the film, it's not preachy at all, it just sort of happens that way and I am fine with that. Like I said, this is a great popcorn-muncher that you don't have to think too hard for in order to enjoy.

Very enjoyable even if you are not a baseball fan (like me).  Extra enjoyable if you appreciate the significance of numbers (also like me).  9/10

^^^ That was the film where I realised Jonah Hill was actually a good actor, rather than the dumb schmuck appearing in those moronic Seth Rogan/Adam Sandler type films.

A Night at the Opera

I laughed so hard, you'd think it wasn't the 15th time I've seen it or something like that. And Chico's piano solo with Harpo's harp number always entrance me.

We saw Tag the other day. We both thought it was ok but nothing special. The slow motion scenes where Jerry defends himself from being tagged were quite good and Isla Fisher is always watchable. But overall it was an non-essential 95 minutes of our lives. 5/10

When I heard about this movie based on real guys who played this Tag for the rest of their lives, I thought that it would probably be very entertaining for anyone who knew these guys, but to anyone else it would seem a bit silly.  Your post seems to confirm my thoughts.

It's 6 months into 2018 and I've seen 38 movies in the cinema (down from 44 at the same stage last year). There's been some good movies but just not as many as usual.

Top films of the year so far (bearing in mind some of these may have come out last year in some countries):
Coco,
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,
The Shape of Water,
Ready Player One,
Avengers: Infinity War,
Deadpool 2.

Honourable mentions:
Black Panther (which I just felt just wasn't as good as everyone thought it was!),
Rampage,
Solo,
Jurassic Word: Fallen Kingdom,
Game Night

Worst Films of the Year so far:
Downsizing,
Life of the Party
Pitch Perfect 3

^^Haven't seen Incredibles 2 yet?

Off the top of my head I've only seen 5 films this year.

This is how I'd rank them in order.

Avengers: Infinity War  9.5/10
Deadpool 2  9/10
Solo  8.5/10
Black Panther  8/10
Jumaji Welcome To The Jungle  6.5/10

Hoping to see Incredibles 2 in the next week...

^^^

I've not seen Incredibles 2 yet, it doesn't open here until 13th July, but I thoroughly expect it to smash into my top 10 of the year!
