^^Not sure which ones you're reffering to as crappy but The Wolf Of Wall Street was a great movie and was critically acclaimed as was Hugo which won him the best director Oscar. Shutter Island while not up there with his best was far from crap. I still haven't seen his 2016 film Silence as its not really my cup of tea but looking it up it seems it was also critically acclaimed.

Silence is an absolute Masterpiece.

Well honestly I don't give a rats ass about critics or what they think. Quite often I don't like what the critics like anyways and vice versa.

I did not like Wolf Of Wallstreet. Found it quite boring truth be told. And ofcourse it had that horrible Leonardo DiCaprio which is pretty much a no no for me every time his face is visible.

Well this is a perfect example of how people have different tastes and opinions.  So I guess I'll toss my 2 cents in.

The Wolf Of Wallstreet -->  big thumbs up
Hugo -->  big thumbs down
Shutter Island -->  thumbs down
Silence -->  did not see it, subject matter does not interest me
Leonardo DiCaprio -->  good (not great) actor

I do not care what the critics think.

Indeed opinions do differ:

The Wolf of Wall Street - Solid (pluses for Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie. minuses overly long, boring subject)
Hugo - Great film, loved it... just not very Scorsese-y.
Shutter Island - Solid
Silence - not seen it for much the same reason as other people have already said... no interest in the subject.

DiCaprio - solid actor, never bad but rarely great.

Strange.
you quote my comment and specify that it illustrates the fact that people have different opinions but then you say that you have not seen the film, simply because of the subject, which is rather reductive to prevail a solid personal opinion .
A cast aligning Ciaran Hinds, Liam Neeson, Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield directed by Martin Scorsese motivates me enough to risk watching the film which, let's face it, has big chance to be a great film notwithstanding a topic dealing with persecutions targeting misionaries Jesuits during the XVII century in Japan.

DiCaprio did an excellent job in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, his acting was excellent in that film.

Since then, the hype around him made it to where it was more difficult for him to meet expectations. I still see him as an intense, highly watchable actor even if he's not the greatest of all time or of our generation.

I was not referring to your comment alone, to illustrate that people have different opinions, but all the comments I quoted as a group.  Perhaps some day I will see that film, but there are too many others I am more interested in right now.  There is nothing new about people being persecuted for whatever reason.  It has been happening for thousands of years.

ypu're right.
But History is one thing , cinematic Art is another one.
Not sure that one day I would have been interested in this abomination that took place in Japan centuries ago than through this wonderful film by Martin Scorsese.
I was less ignorant at the end of the movie.

It is true I am unfamiliar with the specifics of this event.

Its been a weak start to the year regarding films I've wanted to see. Two years ago by the end of February I had seen 18 films in the cinema, even last year I had seen 12 at this stage. So this year I only saw 9 films in the same period and I really don't think I've missed anything I feel I should have seen.

Anyway we saw the 10th film today, The Aftermath starring Keira Knightley, Jason Clarke and Alexander Skarsgård. It's 1946 and allied forces are assisting in the rebuild of Germany; a Colnel (Clarke) and his wife (Knightley) arrive to oversee the rebuild of Hamburg. The house of a German Architect (Skarsgård) is comandeered but he, his daughter and staff are allowed to stay.

The story revolves around the unhappy life of the wife and the subsequent affair with the architect. The girlfiend quite liked it, I thought it was tedious and predicatable, with wooden acting from a cast I thought could have done better. 4/10

Very difficult or impossible to replace Harrison Ford or the excellent Alec Baldwin to acting Jack Ryan's character. Alec Baldwin is the best in this role, without question.
However, the film returns to the source by developing the character's negotiation skills. The problem is that Ben Affleck totally fails to incarnate a brain character. The film is good, the cast too: Morgan Freeman is-still-perfect, just like Ciaran Hinds, James Cromwell and the too rare Liev Schreiber. good to see again Michael Byrne, the eternal General Vogel the Last Crusade. in Excellent performance The extremely intense situation between the USA and Russia is very well controlled.
a solid 6/10 that could have become an 8/10 without Affleck.
