EDGE OF TOMORROW

The real problem however is caused by the pg13 rating...this is supposed to be a hopeless war movie after all and the battle scenes should depict that, but they don't. And the over the top speedy editing doesn't help. You can barely see the alien creatures and ofcourse there is virtually no blood. This movie should have been a strong R...but that's where Tom Cruise comes in again as he always demands a pg rating.

^ THIS

The soldiers in that movie are out of comic books or something. If a Russian or German production house had handled the movie (without Tom Cruise as the lead), we would have had a much grimmer - and more realistic - show. And if Konstantin Khabensky had been cast in the lead, he would have done a great job with it, given his performances in Night Watch and Day Watch.

I'm not familiar with that russian actor BUT I could picture this movie to have quite the different feel if someone like Vin Diesel or Jason Statham or maybe even Jeremy Renner was in the lead.

Konstantin Khabensky is the guy with black hair in this montage from his 2004 film, "Nochnoi Dozor" (Night Watch)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zQIeOTe020

As you can see, they do a great job of knocking the ever-loving crap out of him in this film. The sequel, "Dnevnoi Dozor" (Day Watch) adds to the fun, it's a great pair of films.

So they released a little teaser trailer during the Academy Awards yesterday for Martin Scorsese's upcoming film The Irishman starring Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel.

The term "paint houses"means to kill people or, literally, cover the walls with blood.

I haven't anticipated a movie release such as this for a long long time. The gangster genre has always been my favourite and both Pacino and DeNiro are my all time favourite actors with Scorcese being my favourite director so I'm beyond psyched for this movie.

Saw it opening night at the movies. Absolute masterpiece!

Righteous Kill on the other hand. Quite forgettable!

Yeah I suppose someone had to be first. DeNiro's got the more prominent role though.

First time Pacino and Scorsese have worked together.  Not sure why its taken them so long. Both are from New York City too.

^^^ Wow, its budget is currently $175m Scorsese's most expensive film (mainly due to the CGI needed to make the leads look 40 years younger for the period scenes). It doesn't look like it will get a proper cinema release either, it has been suggested that it will have a two week run later in the year so that it qualifies for awards and such like, and then go straight to Netflix. I don't mind it being made by Netflix but give it a proper theatrical run please!

That's a rather disappointing thing...I'd like to see this in the theaters...

Considering the crappy run Scorsese has had in the past years...Heck it's been more than a decade since he's done a half decent movie so it would be about damn time...and even The Departed was a far cry from his past masterpieces...

This atleast has the cast to make it good...but yeah DeNiro and Pacino's previous get together wasn't all that great...and that too had good premise, but the plot "twist" was bit too obvious.

I fear though that this might be bit on the boring side too, but I sooo hope I am wrong and that this would be more like Goodfellas, but I don't know...

^^Not sure which ones you're reffering to as crappy but The Wolf Of Wall Street was a great movie and was critically acclaimed as was Hugo which won him the best director Oscar. Shutter Island while not up there with his best was far from crap. I still haven't seen his 2016 film Silence as its not really my cup of tea but looking it up it seems it was also critically acclaimed.

Well honestly I don't give a rats ass about critics or what they think. Quite often I don't like what the critics like anyways and vice versa.

I did not like Wolf Of Wallstreet. Found it quite boring truth be told. And ofcourse it had that horrible Leonardo DiCaprio which is pretty much a no no for me every time his face is visible.
