Heck yeah man, get a turntable! There's quite a few great options in the 200-400 range, you might look at Music Hall, Pro-Ject, or Audio Technica. Of those three, Audio Technica probably has the least expensive options.

There really isn't much in the way of specs or features to look for, they are all going to be about the same. Obviously you'll want something that can play both LPs and 45s! Make sure it comes with a needle (stylus, cartridge, cart, whatever the term of the day is). And the needle should be a moving magnet needle, usually just abbreviated as MM. You'll want to stay away from moving coil needles (MC) at that price point. They require a lot of robustness in the entire signal chain to make them sound good, which as you would expect means more money. I doubt you'll run into MC needles at $200, but anything is possible.

If you aren't against used gear, you might browse around on a site called Audiogon (https://www.audiogon.com/). It's basically Craig's list for audio gear. A lot of great deals can be had, but the usual caveats regarding scam avoidance, etc. definitely apply. There's another site, called Reverb (https://reverb.com/), that deals in used audio gear, but they tend to focus more on instruments, studio, recording, touring stuff. But I've seen the occasional turntable pop up now and again.

That's all the advice I have (which looks to be worth about half of a penny), except to say like most things what really matters is whether it makes you happy. All the high-falutin' specifications in the world don't mean anything just typed up on paper. The listener's ear is the true test, and it differs from one person to the next.

Good luck!

Make sure you set aside at least half a million so you can get your electricity done right. :D

Good information about the needle! See I would have never known that! Thank you boss man!

Audio Technica was in fact one of the makes I was looking earlier.  I will check the other two out as well.

We do have a few second hand shops here too...but I don't know if it's worth it..

What does it use to reduce hum? I've never had good luck with systems that had a ground wire...

No idea...As I've stated I know very little about turntables. Hum can be very annoying for sure.

It looks like a good value for the money.

Beautiful Tyr. Is that an original Motörhead on Chiswick? I see you also have the leather sleeve edition of No Remorse

So awesome to have you back. We were all so worried about you. Hope all is well in your life.

You've made my day/week/month  :pub:

You' re right Jack !
From left to right , up and down:

- Motörhead - "Motörhead" original Chiswick edition (not the french one with gatefold cover) and the "little sign" on the center spike !
- Motörhead - "No Remorse" , original leather sleeve edition. Note that the drawing of the War Pig from No Remorse is almost the negative of the first one of the first album cover.
- Motörhead - "No remorse" , original cardboard sleeve
- Motörhead - "Killed by Death" EP 12" with 2 tracks with the same title  "Under The Knife" on B side, released in August '84.
- Motörhead - "No Remorse" , first 1988 CD edition with leather sleeve.

I love this Joe Petagno's masterpiece , so iconic
