Family picked "The Addams Family" to watch last night. Anjelica Huston was great in it, but too much of the film was just one-liners and sight gags that I was already familiar with from Chas. Addams' New Yorker cartoons. It's a trifle of a film.

Hadn't yet seen this, decided now's the time. The synthesizer music tracks were distracting, but the rest of the film was a powerful buddy film set against the backdrop of the debacle of Gallipoli.

Another WW1 movie for me, but it didn't have the poignance that was in Gallipoli or even the last episode of Blackadder Goes Forth. It was very well acted, well cinematographered, well directed, but the overall sad cellos constantly playing gives it all a sense of inevitability about the end that will come.

DRAG ME TO HELL

Sam Raimi returned to the genre he knows best after the abysmal Spiderman movies in a horror comedy about a bank loan officer who gets cursed by a old gypsy woman whose loan she forfeits. Soon she finds herself in a dire situation with an ancient demon Lamia who literally wants to drag her soul to hell.

Raimi feasts upon some bodily fluids in a series of his trademark comedic events through out the movie and the spirit of the Evil Dead movies is well present. Allison Lohman does a great job as Christine and she also preformed most of her own stunts much like Bruce Campbell always did in the Evil Dead movies as well.

The balance between the near slapstick comedy and the gore and the horror is near perfect in the way only Sam Raimi can do. And ofcourse there is also a major twist at the end which screams classic Raimi brothers. Sam wrote this again with his brother Ivan just like the Evil Dead movies.

This isn't as brilliant or an instant classic as the Evil Dead movies were but it showed that no matter what this is the genre Sam Raimi is most at home with. And there are times that you can almost envision Ash in the shoes of Christine.

A good load of fun all in all just like a good horror comedy should be. In one minute you're disgusted the next minute you laugh your ass off just to be disgusted again in the next.

Last movie of the day, finally got around to seeing this one. While the sheer number of characters and the stars used for the roles gave a feel of it being a sketch show, I felt that the episodes were pieced together well and the overall story of insanity in and because of war comes across effectively.

I'm now interested in seeing the Hulu series and also reading the novel.

Three bizarre horror stories all of which star Karen Black in four different roles playing tormented women.  She does a terrific job. 8/10

Seconding that. It is deservedly considered one of the greatest war films made.

I've got the day off today, expecting to be called up as a poll worker, but Dallas County had enough, so I didn't get the call. My wife did, so while she's doing her civic duty, I'll be starting off with...

The rule of the game is to find the differences between the English subtitles trailer and the French one :
If you find it on the internet with subtitles, watch this movie, laughter guaranteed !!

Trailer with subtitles :

^^^^^^
:))  It's pretty obvious the difference between those trailers.  No way could they show the French trailer here in the U.S.  Thanks Tyr66, I'm going to try and check that out.

This has always been a firm favorite of mine along with the original movie. Emilio Estevez is excellent as Billy Kid and the rest of the cast is superb. 8/10
