What was the last movie you saw...? Part IV

Time for the thread sequel!

THE HARD WAY

James Woods plays a tough guy cop John Moss who is hunting a serial killer and gets partnered up with an actor Nick Lang (played by Michael J Fox) who is researching for a role but gets much more than he bargained for.

The action isn't quite as fast paced or as frequent as it should be and the humor is somewhat lacking. However there are few absolute laugh out loud moments too offered by both Woods with his incredible facial expressions and manerisms and Fox with his slapstic. But quite often some of the banter seems bit forced and isn't quite as funny as it perhaps was meant to be and most certainly not as funny as it should be.

Both Woods and Fox do their best and their chemistry works pretty well, but both are guilty of bit too much over acting and sadly the script just doesn't give them enough to work with.

Known bad guy actor Stephen Lang does a good job as the killer though and adds some nice contrast and the sensationally beautiful Annabella Sciorra is always a sight to behold.

There is a reason why this isn't among the more famous buddy action comedies of the era. The was strong potential in pairing up fantastic actors like James Woods and Michael J Fox but sadly the story and script wasn't up to the task here.

I haven’t seen The Hard Way since it originally came out. I remember liking it but seem to remember Woods constant scorning of Fox’s character did get a bit tiresome. I can generally watch and enjoy anything James Woods is in. One of my favourite actors.

I just need to avoid his twitter feed these days.

Edit: Scorning”not “Scoring” Dam auto-correct  ::)

This was a very well made bio of the great Queen and in particular one of the greatest rock singers to ever live, Mr Freddy Mercury.
I enjoyed this quite a bit and thought it was one of the best rock movies that I have seen in years. 8.5/10

My absolute favorite of the prequels, I have a soft spot for this one. It is actually my third favorite Star Wars movie just behind New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. 8/10

I didn’t see it until it hit streaming so I’d heard a lot of the hype but it just didn’t live up to it for mine. Thought it was just so so with a rather vanilla story. Rocketman was better.

Agree, easily the best of the prequels and latest sequels for that matter. Still had shitty acting in it though.

Yeah. Woods also said that was his hardest role ever since he really liked Fox and it was truly hard for him to be mean to him on screen.

For me the Bohemian Raphsody film was exactly what I wanted for Mercury. I thought it honored the man - a great rock star and also a human with faults.

Rvenge Of the Sith was the last great Star Wars movie IMO. The Force Awakens was OK and Rogue One had it's moments and was genuinely entertaining, but the other two sequel movies are garbage as far as I am concerned. They destroyed Luke and they made Vader's sacrifice meaningless. Horrible horseshit!! And Solo was just embarrassing.

Disney has ruined Star Wars, CBS has ruined Star Trek and the BBC has ruined Doctor Who.

I have seen bits and pieces of it. What I have seen does not impress me much, but I will give it a chance based on your recommendation. I despise ST Discovery, it so cringe and the writing and acting are abysmal. The worst thing that has ever been done in the Star Trek universe.

Agreed. I've seen one episode of Discovery and that alone made me want to puke.

As far as Picard goes...well based on the clips that's a killer...and ofcourse it's hard not to love it with Sir Patrick! As soon as it's available for bluray I'll be getting it for sure!

This one has not aged well, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. Not scary in the least, and filled with banal dialogue it really does not hold up. 5/10

It's definitely a Sir Patrick vehicle, all the way. The man's got gravitas to spare!

Have pre-ordered Murder in the Front Row from Amazon Australia so waiting delivery, but in the meantime it was released on Amazon Prime today and couldn’t resist watching.

Goes over a lot of old ground and history previously documented in books and other doco’s, including a lot great photos from the book of the same name but I still enjoyed the hell out of it. Was great to see all the major players from the scene involved in it too, except for the ones that are unfortunately no longer with us. Highly recommended to any fans of thrash and metal in general.
