I light sprinkling of snow overnight, but where it's been sunny it's already melted away.

We are going to likely get an ice storm in North Texas starting Friday night and possibly going through to Sunday afternoon. Might not get above freezing until Tuesday once it drops to freezing on Friday afternoon.

A hell week for weather coming up beginning with a Sunday night snow storm that could dump as much a as foot.  Then several days of frigid temperatures.  Single digits at night and teens during the daytime.     I'm calling it a Finland vacation.

I've got -10C (14F) right now...dropping to around -15C (5F) next week....No sign of the winter letting go yet...

Ice is accumulating here in North Texas, was OK to drive on this morning going in to the radio station, but it's more treacherous now with the falling temps and increasing precipitation.

Sleet is the best because it doesn't accumulate on power lines. Hoping for that today.

We're getting the impact of the same storm system hitting Z in Texas. Only where I'm at it's snow. Currently in the middle of it, once it wraps up and moves out by the end of the day we should have about nine inches of snow, sitting at about five right now.

Plus, the high temp for today is -14 C, with similar for tomorrow.

Reading about people freezing to death over there!

What the actual fuck? Do people just go sitting outside in their shorts when it's 15F outside or what? Are people bit retarded over there or what? I just don't get it. 

I don't think a single person in the past 50 years has died of cold exposure in Finland...and we get -40C every winter....

I don't know the details of what you've read, but I know there have been a few deaths where there was a power outage and many thousands of people couldn't heat their homes.  When that happens, it is the elderly that are in the most danger.  Also, the large homeless population is especially in danger of freezing to death if they are unable to make it to a homeless shelter.

Oh yeah I forgot about the crappy power delivery systems over there...That might very well be an issue yes.

Still though this was announced well in advance so I'd think people would prepare themselves for the cold and for the possible power outages...This thing lasted a day or two for heaven's sake....

We've had 14F or colder for the past 3 weeks in a row and up north -30->-40F...and not a single fatality...nor power outages for that matter.

We had a big storm on late december and there were areas with over 100000 people without electricy and some over a week and no deaths....but then again we're used to it. We tough!
