It has been unseasonably warm some days and crazy rains and cold the others. Weather on the Island is never too extreme in either heat or cold and that was one of the reasons I moved here.

Getting several days of rain here in Dallas. Cool temperatures come with the rain, cooler than usual for this time of the year.

We are in the middle of a super heat wave. It was 38 C yesterday afternoon and today is supposed to go to 42 C.
I am so so lucky that I have an air conditioner or I would really be suffering. We have broken all the previous records and it is going to get even hotter.

Wimbledon has just started so obviously it's overcast with showers in the UK!

Weather on the Island is never too extreme in either heat or cold and that was one of the reasons I moved here.

This has been true until the last few days. They say that this is global warming - but the previous record was 35 C and that was in 1925.

In those temps, is it fair to say you stay at home during the day and if you need to go out (say to the shops) you wait until after dark?

Yeah I have been staying at home for most of this heat wave and yes going out after the sun has gone down.
This weather is extremely unusual for Vancouver Island. Most of the time it will be between 25 and 28 C and they would be considered hot. If it gets up to 42, 43 like they are predicting - that is so unusual for this area.

Those are pretty crazy temps...

We've had pretty warm here too around 30C...and couple of nice little thunders too.

25.8C at the moment.

I lived for a year in Hawaii and it would infrequently get to 40 C in the middle of summer. So I have been in these temps before but the heat is different here, more oppressive and muggy. As I said though it almost never gets anywhere near how hot it is suppose to go today. 635 in the morning and it is already 23 C.

That's like Dallas, Texas in August. It's miserable.

It is 39 C and it is unbearable outside. It is like being in a oven, never felt such intense humid heat.

We got to 38C last summer, so I sympathise. Stay cool!

This and other 'out of the ordinary' weather occurances are all indicative of global warming. If it's man made or part of the Earths natural cycles is open for debate, but you can't get away from the fact that the world is warmer and as such is causing some strange weather phenomena. Just be glad we don't live on Venus!

Thel is in Hell. Literally, I pity anyone living in conditions like that, having endured them myself. Anything over 35C plus humidity is dreary, and drawing close to 40 is violent.

Any one event is not climate change - it's a string of events coupled with gradual, but distinct, elevations/depressesion in average temperatures over a long period of time that's the climate change. Which changes give rise to events such as these.

It's 29.8C here now...and that's pretty darn warm...so I do feel for you Thel...that must be insane. Thank god for AC! Stay in, stay cool.
