Meanwhile, the rain stopped long enough for my son to mow the front yard before going in to work... and we have vacation next two weeks, so it was now or never!

We had this summer's first thunder yesterday!

Pretty active too...distance was just about right as well...closest hit was about a mile away. Me likes.

Today's CAPE suggests we might get another one...here's hoping.

Tropical storm season starting up over here. First wave of big tropical moisture hits here tomorrow.

Warmest day of the year today...we topped 30C (85F)...warm...too warm for me.

Had a massive storm yesterday afternoon. Winds here were over 100 km/h / 60 MPH. Lots of trees cracked and blown over in the winds. Some minor damage to my trees, but much worse happened in the neighborhoods around me.

Power being restored to neighborhoods nearby, but that caused several fluctuations today with my own power. Looks to be settled for now.

Yeah, storms in the USA are the best argument for below-ground power lines. Tree falls over, you keep power.

True but it would raise the price of electricity quite a bit. We had a huuuge project here putting most of the powerlines below ground...it nearly doubled the price of electricity for the average home owner...crazy. And here there really wasn't much need for it but the idiot politicans decided to make it a law that no poweroutage can last more than 24h....so power companies reacted and the consumer paid the price.
