Another way of looking at it is that there's sufficient polar warming for China and Russia to want to secure the region as a faster transit route from Asia to Europe. Global warming means changing geopolitical realities and failure to acknowledge it will leave a nation vulnerable on those fronts.

Reminds me of how Hitler was defeated in Russia.

I don't know where I saw it, but according to Neil DeGrasse Tyson global warming is inevitable. He went into great detail about the atmosphere, carbon emissions and the resulting weather changes. He made it very easy to understand and made perfect sense. He made a believer out of me.
The thing is Bog, that a lot of Republicans are saying Global warning is not real. How can they say that when it’s evident?

Because Republicans still want to burn dirty coal.

I know it’s all politics and no science, which is sad and even sadder is people believe them.

Well okay then...

It's snowing like crazy out right now...

Forecast says there might be as much as 5 inches of new snow by morning...

That is waaaaay too much snow for my liking.

Stupid winter.

Well damn...that's warm....too warm.

Anyways the 5 inch forecast was pretty accurate. Measured 12cm of snow on the yard...

Took a better part of an hour to plow it out with my little lawnmower tractor plow....

This is an interesting weekend here in Missouri. We were supposed to get a lot of snow and cold.

As it turns out, we received a little ice and a little snow, and not quite as cold.

But...

It is -7 Celsius, wind chill of -16, and it is getting colder as the day progresses. The roads are horrid. Half an hour ago there was a snow plow driver that flew off the road and died. Wrecks everywhere because we got more ice than snow.

What all of this means for me is that my wife and I are being hermits until Monday :) This gives me the opportunity to do a few things I've been putting off:

1. Pull down my test network environment and set it back up in a new rack I acquired a couple of weeks ago.

2. Listen to a lot of records.

3. Have a couple of drinks.

4. Listen to a lot of records.

5. Sit next to my wife and hold her while we watch the sunset later on.

6. Listen to a lot of records.

Sometimes there's nothing better than being shut in for a couple of days. This is one of those times for me!

Today ,  sweet 13 °C  sunny with few rain. Unusually hot in January.

Saint Goustan , near my home town.Benjamin Franklin, when he wanted to join Nantes, was forced by the wind to land here in 1776 before going to Louis XVI to ask for his support against England.

Fun fact: the arctic regions' heating up means there's more cold stuff to push down on the temperate zones, making for more extreme winters. I'm just glad that Texas has so far dodged any nasty winter stuff so far. We're having plenty of cold, but the usual stretch of of about 6-7 days with really nice weather in January hasn't happened this year, and it doesn't look likely.
