I've got these two thignys sticking out from under my belly called legs. I get to use them alot. Though it's just a small mountain town i live in, atleast most stuff is within walking distance. But i've spent some hours on buses and trains too. Which is expencive enough, don't get me started on cabs...

I live a little over 10km from a nearest store of any kind and 30km from a nearest big city and no busses come anywhere near here, so not a lot of possibility to even consider a life without a car...and thank god I don't have to.

It's -19C (-2F) now...will not be going out for my usual late night stargazing stroll...instead I'm gonna whip it out and play some...and by it I mean my PS4.

Holy crap, there's supposed to be a nor'easter blow in here on Friday and dump a ton of snow or rain or ice on NYC. I'm opposed to that, as I'm supposed to fly out on Friday...

It's kind of odd that it's colder there than it is here....I don't think that's too common actually. It's "only" -17C (1F) here now...in the morning it is supposed to drop to around -25C...


Well it is the polar vortex that's causing the extreme cold here and siberia and what is causing the warm temperatures in Greenland. It split and now from the fracture point warm air from the south can bleed into the polar area. It is somewhat of an uncommon event actually. But can't blame global warming on that though...

Might be due to hight. Another small moutain village some 70-80 km south-east of here reported down to -42 C today, which isn't too unusual in that area.

Ah quite right. What is your elevation? Mine is only about 30m above sea level...so yeah not very mountany here!

Weather Friday here will be very stormy in the morning. My flight is scheduled to depart out of LaGuardia airport, which has the highest rate of cancellations due to weather.

550 m, so not the highest, but that's down in the valley surrounded by mountains, so the cold air is flowing down, gathering in the "hole", so to speak.
Folldal, the place that had down to -42 yesterday (their coldest in 69 yrs, apparently) is 712 m above, and smack in the middle of the plateau of Dovrefjell.

Today: -17,5 close to noon (when it was -13 yesterday), so it's getting colder before it's getting warmer. And revving up for Bambis "morning" walk now...

Took a flight out last night ahead of the storm and I'm glad I did, as the flight I was supposed to be on today got delayed 2 hours, and then cancelled.

Ouch.

That storm is now going through New England.  Where I live it should be mostly rain but some vicious wind.  My house is in the middle of woods and I'm very concerned that a large tree could topple doing some damage to my home.  Already the driveway has many twigs and branches all over it.  The wind is suppose to continue the rest of today and all night.  I can only wait it out and hope.

Yeah, this one is not messing around at all. I just now got another text that the luggage for that flight is now at baggage claim A. That's gotta be sad, getting your flight canceled and then waiting for hours for your bags to be off the plane.

Anyways finally some "warmer" weather here...it's only -2C (28F) now...quite an improvement but now there's gonna be more of that white shit coming down tomorrow...

We've had a "heat wave" for a few days, with -6 - -9, with sun. Then down to -20 again yesterday, now it's back to -3...
