Power went out about an hour after I typed that, then came on again just now. Clear and windy for the next few days, then rain on Saturday, thunderstorms likely. Texas springtime in effect!

The south of England is pretty much entirely covered by a dense fog, which might clear by lunch time!

We are having a really really REALLy warm day today... 7C (45F)...typically it's around 0 this time of the year...so I am very happy about that!

80 F here today. 50 mph winds. High of 34 F tomorrow and snow all day. We have all four seasons in one week around here.

We'll be thankful if we get rain this month. I just read several articles from earlier in the decade that predicted 2025 or so would be when they expect the next Dust Bowl event to unfold.

Dust Bowl - Great Depression - my paternal grandparents, especially my paternal grandmother and her family, had it r-o-u-g-h.

They ran a farm. Her mom died giving birth to her. When things fell apart, the dad got sick and died. Her older sister died of starvation. The brother joined the army and sent what moeny he could back to her, and she almost didn't make it herself.

She hoarded food up until I was probably 10 years old, and she finally got over it and stopped.

That shit is nothing but bad news.

They are on a roughly 90 year cycle and originate in the Texas Panhandle, Western Oklahoma, and Eastern New Mexico. With the drought, wind, and topsoil blowing away, we may have the right conditions for another such event in the 2020s. That's what the older articles said.

And here we are in 2025, with deep drought and high winds. Dust storm advisory for Dallas...

I recall one could tell where the storm was coming from by the color of the dirt in the air. Today is mostly West Texas in the sky.
