Wow that is a nice surprise. I thought they’d tease us a little longer as well.

Album clocks in at just under 82 minutes and is described as complex and varied with a couple of very different style sounding Maiden songs.

Digging the Samurai Eddie concept.

10 songs and 7 of them clock over 7 minutes....yikes.

They've been a little hit or miss with their 10min+ songs, I only like 1 of the 3 from Book of Souls, and they've never really bettered Ancient Mariner in my opinion. They've had more success over the years with 6-9 minute songs though.

Yeah...and it seems like they only want to do long and repetetive boring songs anymore. They've lost the ability to do nice fast little rockers.

The Red And The Black was the only good long song from Book Of Souls. And even that was far off from the likes of Sign Of The Cross or Rime Of The Ancient Mariner.


I can now see though why The Writing On The Wall sounded so bland and punchless...it was done by Dickinson and Smith!

Let's hope Harris can still deliver something exciting with his songs.

This is also the main question for me.
Paradoxically, Empire of Clouds was one of the few songs that I liked in The Book of Souls but for the rest ... I also think that songs well over 7/8 minutes get boring. I'm a fan of Adrian Smith so I keep my hopes up. The last three tracks composed by Harris and exceeding 10 minutes still prove another time that it's a will of the bassist to take the band towards progressive shores. Of course, I'll listen to the album before a possible purchase. But again, The Writing on The Wall is very promising, as is the title of the album, Senjutsu, belonging to Japanese culture and is a kind of fusion of physical and spiritual chakra used to enter a state called hermit mode, and can multiply the energy of one who knows how to master it not without risk.

Interesting. Bruce Dickinson. pushes us in this research and I like that. I'll be less stupid tomorrow thanks to him.
Anyway, very exited to listen to the whole abum.

BTW, if you think massive retrospectives with all the same material are bad, how about the non-fungible tokens that are surely on their way for collectors?
