What a goal feast the teams from both games put on. I love an underdog story and so far Denmark and Switzerland are providing the underdog stories. Would love to see one of them take it out.

You can bet after last nights goal frenzy that tonight’s games will be ultra defensive and conservative until they get into extra time.

Here, we are confident of a win, tempered with the resignation that we'll fuck it up! On paper, if our best players get their shit together and show the world what they can do, then I think England will win. But that won't happen and I can see it being a bore draw with Germany winning on penalties... as they always do!

... And here we are again facing our usual demons: complacency, arrogance ( Pogba after his goal !!) , vanity and conflict of egos. The more than doubtful and much too late return of Benzema unbalanced the whole ensemble with this obsession of wanting to see him score and him alone. His imposed return went beyond the sporting format and Deschamps' organization was gradually affected. A national team is a high-precision mechanic and requires solid mental preparation. Thanx to Macron.
Too many tactical changes, Mbappé has been transparent since the start of the tournament, Griezmann left before the end of the match, Kimpembe who confuses football with rugby and Pavard never at the level.
Our little tattooed millionaires will have time to tweet, Mbappé has already started ....

Bravo to  Switzerland. They wanted to win by playing and fighting , not the french team.

France have had great players for the last quarter of a century, and they have great players still. This is a setback for sure, but as soon as the internal politics and bickering are sorted out you'll be back, probably better than before, and challenging for titles.

On to today's games:

England v Germany. I don't feel qualified to judge, I just want England to play better than they have so far. They've had the fewest attempts at goal of any team to reach this stage of the competition. But hopefully not having conceded any goals yet they should be solid in defence. Germany have been a mixed bag so far. 0-0 AET German's win 5-3 on penalties!

Sweden v Ukraine. I'm not sure about this one, I suspect Sweden will be the favourites having topped their group. Ukraine were one of the best 3rd place teams, so I'll go 2-1 to Sweden.

England vs Germany...I would very much like to see England win...part from the Portugal game Germany has been subpar. But England hasn't exactly shone either. They do need to up their game if they want to move on...can they? That is the question.

Sweden vs Ukraine...Finns hate Swedes that's a fact...and we have every historical right to...especially when it comes to sports...the swedes have always been insanely lucky...whether it's in Ice Hockey or in footsy...and the Poland game sure proved that once again. So I would love to see Ukraine win but sadly they have quite the luck hill to climb..and I don't think they can.

My American Idiot predictions for today:

England v Germany: Yes, there will be a winner.

Sweden v Ukraine: Sweden will win and the rest of the world will cringe.

0-0 at half time, both sides have had their chances, but it's very cagey. England only have 3 attack minded players on the pitch and one of those - Kane - is little more than a passenger sadly. Hopefully a couple of attacking changes in the second half will help.

Talking about monkeys on backs that the first time England have beaten Germany in the knock-out stages of a tournamment since a certain game in 1966! That's 5 defeats over the decades!
