Swedes not so lucky now! Hit the woodwork twice in the second half and have now had a player sent off in Extra Time! This has to go penalties at this rate!

The longer these teams take to decide the match the tireder they will be for the Quarter final on Saturday.

I didn;t see that late winner for the Ukraine coming. But their superior numbers told in the end. A bit of a messy last 45 minutes really.

Sweden's luck finally ran out...a very nice last minute goal from the Ukraine as well.

But yeah haven't really seen that many injuries during an extra time ever before....not a very organized match by any means.

There's some teams who will expect to get to the the last 4. Only Belgium v Italy looks like a close match, and would probably have been a good final pairing.

Studying the flags, there are 3 crosses, 2 with vertical stripes, 2 with horizontal stripes, and one triangle.

No matter what happens, only one team with vertical stripes will make the finals.

It seems likes weeks since the Round of 16 completed! But today we have the first of the quarter finals...


Switzerland v Spain: Spain are not the team they were, they've struggled to overcome the opposition thus far... but really they should be too much for Switzerland who have rode their luck to get this far. It *should* be a win for Spain in normal time. 2-0

Belgium v Italy: This could have been the final and no one would have been surprised, it's a shame it has come this early in the tournament. This one will be close, and may well go to Extra Time and penalties. Is De Bruyne fit? If not then I have to go with Italy, if he is fit then I'll go with Belgium!

Switzerland vs Spain... Like I stated earlier the Swiss sure as heck gave Sweden a run for their money on the luck department to beat France...it was a ridiculous game. Can their luck hold against Spain who have been improving match after match..well part from one guy ofcourse but he redeemed himself already I think...There is a strong change though that this will be a tie and extra time awaits...

Belgium vs Italy.... This is going to be one hell of a match. I've never really been a fan of Italy but they have played extremely well in this tournament. Lukaku vs Immobile...which will get the goal? I'm saying goal because I doubt there will be more than one...Italy's defence is stronger than Belgium's that's a fact. But Chiellini isn't the fastest cat around anymore so against Lukaku he's a bit of an underdog though...so if there's one on one situation Lukaku will win and might score.
I'm hoping for Belgium but honestly this could go either way.

Into extra time, but the Swiss are down to 10 men, they'll defend like mad for the penalty shoot-out. Spain don't really seem to be taking advantage of the extra man.

IF this goes to penalty kicks then it is with 99.8% certainty the Swiss will win.
