FINALLY

Dio is the Voice of Metal. Prove me wrong, if you can.
Rob Halford? Fully embraced the metal tag and never shied away from it. Still going strong and continues to spread the word of metal at 70 years of age.

He did turn his back totally on metal in the 90s. I think he even went on record to say he was done with everything metal at one point.
Fight was straight up metal and Two or 2wo was classified as Industrial Metal but yeah Rob was going through some shit at the time in his personal life during that mid late 90’s period and publicly coming to terms with his sexuality and became disillusioned with the scene that was at its lowest ebb.

Good discussion: Halford even covered for Dio when Dio refused to go onstage with Ozzy at the close of the Dehumanizer tour.

Halford certainly had HUGE influence on metal fashion... but Dio sealed in the  gesture... Given that we have three smileys doing it - :abbath: :headbanger: - that's some significant legacy from Dio.

But back to the voice part: are there any others that could stand up to the consistent quality of both Dio and Halford? Both in terms of lifelong output as well as making genre-defining contributions like Heaven and Hell and Breaking the Law.

After the most deserving induction of them all we have:

Guitar legend DIMEBAG DARRELL ABBOTT from PANTERA.

Dio to Dimebag? Are they stuck on the letter D?

Yes, but if they can't get off D, then they won't be able to get to Ian Gillan!

Well yeah...there is that...but we've got time...even for one more D as in Doro...but I kind of doubt she'll make it here eventhough she most certainly should.

Be good to get a list of who’s been inducted so we can pick apart who’s not. Is Lemmy in yet? Ozzy? Gillan & Plant? I would have Bruce in there as well. Has there been more than one inductee from a band? Maybe they are sticking with only 1 per band?

So far it seems one per band. I'm assuming Lemmy and Ozzy are coming..both have birthdays at the end of the year as quite often inductions have happened on the week of their birthdays.

Although both Blackmore and Coverdale have been inducted but Coverdale more of his work with Whitesnake than Purple though...

I will make a complete list at the end if I can be bothered! :D

Maybe one per band on the first pass, then come back for others on the next round?

This won't continue into next year. It'll be something new again in 2022. :)

Then probably one per band, with bonus points if they were involved in more than one big band. Blackmore had DP and Rainbow. Dio had Rainbow, BS, and solo. Gillan has DP and... ? Yeah, probably not Big Ian if Blackmore is already in there.

Yeah that's my worry as well...Ian's solo career wasn't as big as Ritchie's or Ronnie's...

With that in mind, Ozzy could well still get a nod - his solo career has been monster-sized, and it's his involvement that really drives a BS reunion tour.
