I think they also became a band that everyone liked in order to seem hip to the times. Kind of like U2.

The early Chilli Peppers albums are OK, but anything released past 1987 was pandering garbage. A pop band is a good description of what they became. Oh and I cannot stand the lead singer, such a pompous ass.

This week's induction was

NIKKI SIXX of Motley Crue...

I am bit surprised by this choice...Yeah Crue was very influential in the 80s and they became very big, but still...Also everything I've ever read about Sixx paints him like a real asshole too.

I think Mars would have been a better choice...but I guess since Sixx was the main song writer...I don't know...but I just don't like the guy...at all.

Yeah...there's certainly been a couple of instances where the band would have made a lot more sense than a single individual...but then again there have also been several instances where the single person makes a lot more sense... like Tony Iommi, Ritchie Blackmore, Ronnie James Dio and so on...

Nikki Sixx was a huge influence on the 80’s LA metal scene. Probably the biggest influence in that era. I wonder about you blokes sometimes  ::)

Perhaps so...but he is still a major dickwad and for that alone I don't think he should get this kind of recognition...and was he really more influential than the other guys in MC? At the time in the 80s that is?

Sorry to break it to you Charger but a lot if not most rock stars are dickwads and this HOF list is packed with them with Ritchie Blackmore, Dave Mustaine and Blackie Lawless probably topping the dickwad list but that doesn’t prevent me from loving them or have any bearing on how I feel about them.

I don’t let that crap effect me.

But if you’re a dickwad with little to know talent, that’s a different story lol

True about Blackmore. The man is... complicated... and then he starts to solo and it doesn't matter.

As for Crue... well, we wouldn't have it without Mr. Sixx. And, yes, reading up on his history is like going through a who's who of the LA metal scene.

But Nikki Sixx...well...he's a tad more isn't he...but yeah...I don't really give a rats ass about Sixx one way or another to be honest.
