Oh yes..that's him...I guess I could have googled him but couldn't be bothered...

I don't think anyone would even remember that band anymore had he not killed himself...the music was that dreadful and very much product of it's time...kind of like shoulder pads in the 80s.

I think "Nevermind" was okay, it had some good songs on it, but the rest of their albums were poor. Yes a product of the times.

Yeah, but the band is still quite popular with people who don't know that the best punk rock isn't popular.

Not particularly a fan, but he is definitely a character!

He hung out a lot with David Bowie, did a lot of stuff that would eventually become punk rock, did a lot of art rock, as well. Definitely more of an influencer among musicians than a radio hit-maker.

This week's inductee is the birthday boy of today a certain decent enough guitar player by the name of RITCHIE BLACKMORE and today's featured song of his was a little track called STARGAZER!

Interesting pick for the feature song, as it showcases Blackmore's slower soloing style. It's a monster tune, no question, but his other most famous solos are typically faster and harder.

But it is among his more complex ones though...I think. Also that's not a song you hear on the radio too often. ;)

Yesterday's song was a bit faster one though as it was one called Highway Star.

Oh yes, I'm familiar with that one. :smug:

His studio work is one thing, though... his live performance solos are often levels far above what he does in studio.

This week's induction was the late guitar master Alexi Laiho of Children Of Bodom.

Forgot about this

Last week's entry was Joey Ramone of the Ramones

And this week's entry is Dave Grohl.

I would probably just have all the Ramones in, rather than just Joey. Was he that much more influential than the others?

And while Grohl isn't my cup of tea, he is very popular, so no surprise there.
