@Elves
I did see your post, but to be honest I'm not as "nerdy" about the detail that many of the hard core fans are, I couldn't tell you if Palpatine had kids or not, I just enjoy the films for what they are.

I enjoyed all the recent films but if I had one gripe about the trilogy it is that there wasn't an overarching plot line to connect them all.

How about them showing a young Leia in Jedi training and wanted Luke to give her light saber to someone who was worthy?

Weren’t you upset they never showed Darth Vader or Anakin as a force ghost, that would’ve been the overarching plot line to connect them all, not just bringing back the Emperor.

Hey, at least they didn't have a scene with a latte in it, like in Game of Thrones.

Or CGI fur all over human bodies, like in Cats...

I watched bits and pieces of a couple of Game of Thrones episodes (my wife was big into it). But I have to question the latte. Who's to say they didn't have a Starbucks (or whatever) that served refreshing lattes? I mean to say, they had dragons, undead creatures, and magic. Why not  latte as well?

lol

Maybe this was the REAL ending to GoT, which would explain the crazy at the end:

That's better than a panning shot of Bigfoot holding the Magna Carta!

Black gangsters in 1930 Harlem fights Dutch Schultz who is trying to horn in on their numbers racket.  Good strong acting all around. 8/10

Based on actual events, 4 American soldiers and one Brit fighting in Europe during World War II struggle to return to Allied territory after being separated from U.S. forces during the historic Malmedy Massacre.  Excellent authenticity.  You feel like you are really there.  Good film for the entire family.  No unnecessary gore or cursing.  Great depiction of what brave men must endure whilst fighting a war. 9/10

I saw this when it came out great movie, love it when Dutch Schultz says about the Sicilians “dark complexed bastards they’re damn near niggers anyway” that cracked me up, he said that when Luciano  came to warn him not to mess with the blacks in Haarlem.

I agree. One of the best war movies I've seen. It's not trying to prove a point, it's a story about what happened and the personal dramas that are often overlooked in more sweeping biopics or epic battle re-creation films. It is very much in the vein of "The Big Red One" or "A Walk in the Park".

A film about Dalton Trumbo, who was Hollywood's top screenwriter in the late 1940's, until he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their political beliefs.  Excellent depiction of the narrow mindedness and ignorance amongst the Hollywood elite.  Similar thing is going on today, as supporters of President Trump find themselves having trouble to get work.  I guess Hollywood still hasn't learned its lesson. 8.5/10

I saw JoJo Rabbit yesterday. Taika Waititi's WWII comedy/drama about a 10 year old German boy (Jojo) who joins the Hitler Youth, who discovers that his mother is hiding a jewish girl in their attic. The film stars Roman Griffin Davis as Jojo, Scarlet Johanson as his mother (Rosie), Tomasin Mackensie as the Jewish girl (Elsa), with supporting roles from Taika Waititi as Jojo's imaginary friend (Adolf), Sam Rockwell, Alfie Allen, Rebel Wilson and Stephen Merchant.

It's more a light hearted drama than an out and out comedy but it does have some funny moments as well as some very sad/harrowing moments. I've seen some reviews criticising it for having the comedic elements, but I feel there is plenty of space in the film business for a film which is neither a full drama or a full comedy. If I wanted to see a serious WWII film I would watch Schindler's List or The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas.

The performances from everyone are really well done, the story is good and Stepehen Merchant comes across as a really menacing member of the Gestapo playing against type. I loved the film. 8.5/10

We watched Good Boys on rental this weekend. The story of three 6th graders (Jacob Tremblay, Keith L Williams and Brady Noon) who skip school in order to spy on some older girls to find out how to kiss. Things go awry when they inadvertently steel some drugs off the girls and end up on the run from them.

The plot is pretty generic school kids get into trouble sort of stuff. But what sets this apart from similar films (such as the tedious Booksmart) is the fact that it has some genuinely funny scenes. The performances from the kids are really good, and  Tremblay is destined for great things after demanding roles in films such as Room and The Wonder. 8/10

Been awhile since I have watched this franchise, but I must say it still stands up today although it has some slow parts. Matt Damon is bourne to play this role  :whistling:. 8/10
