I know I am alone in this opinion but I do not like many of these Marvel movies. This is strange as I was a big comic book collector as a kid. For some reson I find them to be so over the top and so much riding on pure hype, that I just do not get the hoopla. 5/10

The comics that inspired the movies were so much better than these movies. That seems to be the case with a lot of these movies derived from great fictional worlds. Thanos was so much more of a bad ass in the comic books. I think that is one of the reasons I did not enjoy Endgame.

I just don't think it requires much talent to tell a story where there are no restrictions from the real world.  When I start to watch one of these, it's like, here we go again:  to heck with the rules of nature, forget about the laws of physics, here is an insurmountable amount of energy to do what ever one's imagination can think up, blah, blah, blah.

The reason I thought that the movie Batman (Keaton & Nicholson) was terrific is because it was presented to an adult audience as though it could actually have happened.  That takes more talent and more skill.  The rest is just cartoonish fluff.

Fair enough I suppose but in all honesty movies aren't supposed to be imitations of real life...they are supposed to be something more.

The "Batman" I mentioned is certainly "something more" without the nonsense.

Quite true and still one of my favourite superhero movies for sure! Beats those Nolan's humorless efforts every way.

The lives of two families change forever after a fatal tragedy takes place on Reservation Road.  Strong cast, good drama. 8/10

]Cant stand him myself. How he gets given movie roles is beyond me. Worst actor going around.

Sam Worthington ? Chris Pine ? Christopher Tatum ? Dwayne Johnson ? Vin Diesel ( despite I'm a Riddick's fan) ? etc .....

Yep, they're all in the same league, although I think Sam Worthington is a quite a bit better than that lot.

One of my fav Lovecraft inspired movies. Dean Stockwell is an actor that I truly enjoyed on Quantum Leap and he delivers a creepy  Wilbur Whateley. I know that the critics hated it but as a Lovecraft fan I found it well done and curiously interesting.
9/10  :drama:
I’m going to check that movie out.

I saw The Sisters Brothers yesterday. A western starring John C Reilly and Joaquin Phoenix as Eli and Charlie Sisters who are hired assassins. Their tracker (Jake Gyllenhaal) is a few days ahead and leaves messages for them to lead them to their target. In this case the target is an educated chemist (Riz Ahmed) who has a formula for a chemical which, when added to a rivers waters causes the gold in it to glow.

Charlie is a drunkard and a violent man who enjoys his job while Eli is starting to get doubts and is thinking of settling down with a teacher he knows and likes.

It's a strange yet enjoyable film, some action but a lot more talking than you would expect for this type of film. It's directed by Frenchman Jacques Audiard (his first English language film) and shot mainly in Spain which looks very much like the wild west.  7.5/10

I enjoyed parts of this movie simply because it reminded me of my childhood and my collection of Transformer toys. In reality though this film is quite poor and so over the top in places that I found myself incapable of finishing the full movie.
5/10 and most of that five is for the voice actor for Optimus Prime who was the original one for the first cartoon series.
And I should say that the FX are very good but that is the only real great thing about this mess.

You will enjoy it Elves, it is doubly appealing if you are a Lovecraft fan. Let me know what you think of it!!

I'm with you.  I only saw 2 of them, and quit there.  Booooring.

Considering all the rom coms and relationship dramas you like to watch I am bit bewildered by that boring comment in this case...

But I know a lot of people who don't like superhero movies for what ever reason...although I have to say I doubt I've ever heard anyone call them boring though... ;D

I agree with the disdain for the plot lines and characters defying the rules of nature and the laws of physics. I find that only comes off successfully in Science Fiction if ever.

I loved the Batman movie with Keaton & Nicholson, and it still stands up today.

Scientist discovers a method of greatly increasing the growth rate of plants and animals.  Might have been a much better film were it not for the awful special effects. 4/10
