Once past the violent scenes at the start, this shortrt movie deserves to be seen. No song played like any other usual video but a real story written and acted out very well. A production by Till Lindermann (Rammstein) assisted by a Russian technical team who managed to reach the goal with unexpected twists and dealing with a serious theme.
Very well done.

That movie scared the bejeezus out of me when I saw it. Awesome epic of the silent era.

My last movie was Pixar's Luca.

It starts off with the routine "you can't go there!" message for the kid who, of course, goes there and discovers a world yadda yadda yadda parents are cool with the changes and it's a happy ending after the misunderstandings are all cleared up nicely. Plot-wise, we've been here before. Many times.

So, it's the duty of the film makers to give us characters and settings that delight the eye and imagination. Here, Pixar succeeds - but not in depicting the alien or unusual, but in depicting the mundane. The most memorable appearances are the angular little girl Giulia and her chungus of a dad - who strikes a very Miyazaki chord in his animation, which I absolutely love. Along with the dad is the wonderful cat Machiavelli, whose appearance is sheer genius of characterization.

The mom and dad searching for their boy gets a lovely twist in which they actively turn a town upside down instead of lurking behind a subplot. They are active and engaged and I love the energy they bring.

The cameo appearance of Sacha Baron Cohen as Uncle Ugo steals the scene. I had to watch it twice, and it's my favorite part of the film.

So yes, it's a fairy tale formula of tribulation, redemption, and happy endings. It's a satisfying tale, well told, and has a beauty in it that clearly shows the makers of the film are all Hiyao Miyazaki fans. No, the film was not made by Miyazaki - it lacks a few things, here and there, but it is a wonderful film in its own right and I had a good happy cry as everything resloved, and that's what I wanted out of a movie after a hard work week. I got some good laughs out of it and I'd be happy to see it again, given the opportunity.

Tom Hardy does a great job playing both of the Kray brothers in this biopic. It was violent but not exceedingly so. 7/10

It was a solid film, but it was one of those films where the performance of Tom Hardy outshone the film as a whole.

A bit of a mess, with lots of boring dialogue between the largely disinterested actors. 6/10

A great movie with some great acting from Smith and Hackman. Very entertaining. 8/10

A puzzle movie with 3 different stories.
Liam Neeson has finally found a different role from his last 10 movies. Great cast: Adrian Brody, James Franco and 3 absolutely magnificent actresses starting with the sublime Olivia Wilde, the rebel Mila Kunis and a beauty from another planet: Moran Atias whose acting is very fair.

My first trip to the cinema since Sept 20. I and the girlfiend went to see F9 (Fast and Furious 9), starring the usual crowd (Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Nathalie Emmanuel), with returning baddie Charlise Theron and introducing Diesel's bad brother played by John Cena (we've probably not seen the last of him!).

It's the usual fare, fast car chases, big stunts with explosions... and Diesel keeps going on about 'family'! The nonsense story sees the team globe trotting from Mexico, to Japan, Germany and the UK, on a chase for the somewhat predictable peices of the device which will give some German playboy control of the world. Why real spies and special ops aren't doing this God only knows! The most moronic part is when they launch a car into space to trash a satellite!

Having said that it is quite funny and self depricating in places, but that doesn't really make up for the nonsense story! 6/10

This was simply a great film. Incredible acting from almost every one involved. I highly recommend this one. 8/10

The family watched Disney's Raya for our movie night. I was called away for some emerging business issues in the middle of it, and I have to say I didn't miss much. Pretty much Yellow Submarine meets a Care Bears movie. Bad stuff happened in the past and the only way forward is sharing and caring.

In my opinion this sequel is a better movie than it's predecessor. The effects are a bit dated but they serve their purpose.
Arnold was born to play this role IMHO. 9/10

This movie gets torched by critics and viewers alike. It is by no means a good movie but I think that it is a bit better than the critics say with a good performance from Hemsworth and some able actors strewn throughout. Not even close to being as good as the original. 5.5/10
