^^^ I bought the 1966 Batman movie a few months ago but have yet to watch it. I also was able to get the full series for a great price on DVD. Should I watch the movie first or the series?? I have never really watched it before except when I was really young.

I'd say watch the first season and then the movie. The movie was intended to be an intro to the series, but launch dates got moved around and it arrived after the series started.

The Batman series is an amazing deadpan situation comedy.

The missus is out of town, so I'll watch movies that she has no interest in... last night was Andrzej Wajda night:

and

Both are sharp indictments of political violence and the destructiveness of extremism.

What Lies Beneath  by Robert Zemeckis (2000)
We all must thank God for Michelle Pfeiffer .This woman is the eighth wonder of the world.

I was quite disappointed by that movie when it came out...wasn't exactly what I expected it to be...always left me the impression that Zemeckis himself didn't quite know what kind of movie he was trying to make...that being said both Pheiffer and Ford were rather good in their roles.

I finally got around to watching The Rock for the first time. This actioner from 1996 stars Nicolas Cage, Sean Connery, Ed Harris. A team of renegades lead by Ed Harris, take hostages at Alcatraz and threaten to unleash a chemical attack on San Francisco. The FBI send a chemical warfafe expert (Cage) and a highly resourceful convict (Connery) who is the only person to have escaped from Alcatraz, in to resolve the situation!

This is a most enjoyable romp... completely preposterous story, but you accept that because of the great action and great acting. Connery is really good in the role and Cage and Harris are more than up to the task. Some of the supporting characters are a little cookie-cutter generic but it doesn't really detract too much. A shame it took me so long to see it! 8/10

I didn't really see that many films before 2005. I have films to catch up on, particularly from the 90s because some great films came out in that decade.

(I still haven't seen The Hunt for Red October!)

Classic ! the movie doesn't age so well but the character of Snake Plissken is timeless. Always a pleasure to see Harry Dean Stanton and Lee Van Cleef again ... and of course Adrienne Barbeau 's fantastic breasts.

I'm planning on buying the anniversary edition of Escape From NY! That indeed is a brilliant classic.

The Birdcage

I've seen La Cage Aux Folles, but never the US remake. I have to say, it was a brilliant job of acting from both Nathan Lane and Robin Williams. It was a comedy, sure, but they both made their characters come across with powerful sympathy.
