HAPPY 24th ANNIVERSARY to Savatage's second full concept album DEAD WINTER DEAD!!!

This album was written about the Yugoslavian war that was going on at the time and about how people who basically grew up next to each other found themselves fight against one another.
One of the best concept albums ever done and one of Savatage's finest works. It's also the first album which features vocals from both Jon Oliva and Zak Stevens. Jon sang on two of the best tracks I Am and Doesn't Matter Anyway, it also features the incredible orchestral instrumental track Mozart And Madness.

HAPPY 26th ANNIVERSARY to one of the very best DIO albums:

This was a near perfect follow up to the perfect DEHUMANIZER album. Ronnie kept the heavy touch he found with Sabbath again and found the perfect heavy guitarist in Tracy Grijalva who was a mastermind when it came to heavy riffs...
Jesus Mary & The Holy Ghost has to be the greatest religion critical song ever made. Absolutely fantastic lyrics on that one.
The title track's incredible groovy doomy riff is something totally unique. Also tracks like Evilution, Give Her The Gun, Here's To You and Pain are right up there among DIO's finest.

Must be one of the most underrated album of Ronnie's entire career.

HAPPY 34th ANNIVERSARY to one of Thrash metal's finest records ANTHRAX's SPREADING THE DISEASE!

Finding Joey Belladonna was to Anthrax what finding Ronnie James Dio was for Black Sabbath or Bruce Dickinson was to Iron Maiden. Their songwriting improved with the vastly superior singer. Fistful Of Metal had some great songs but Neil Turbin's vocals were pretty bad. But here the quality of the vocals more than match with the quality of music.
Songs like A.I.R., Lone Justice, Madhouse, Aftershock and Medusa are right up there with those all time thrash metal classics...and there is a reason why most of those songs are still live set list staples.
This was a great second coming and this solidified Anthrax as one of the all time greats.

^^Great album. I remember hearing A.I.R. and Gung-Ho when it first came out on a little community radio stations 2 hour weekly metal radio show and being completely blown away by it before rushing out and buying from one of only two stores in Melbourne that imported such music. Still my favourite Anthrax album.

P.S. I think Sabotage is as great as Sabbath got as songwriters.

Today is also the birthday of Jethro Tull's Living in the Past. Nice collection of outtakes, live tracks, and other such fun stuff.

One of my favorites was a November 1 album: The Grateful Dead's classic, American Beauty

I recall thinking what a stupid name for a band when this came out, but bought it anyway and the music was great!

Arguably the best Black Sabbath album with Dio as the singer, but that would be it.   :whistling:

Easily the best Dio Sabbath album. IMHO it is the best album that Dio was ever on, an almost perfect offering!!
