I'm gonna bow out from here as I don't want to waste my time on something that's already decided. I'm proud of the fact I was the only one healing H&H and rate it as highly as I do though. Maybe one day others will hear what I hear  :)

I think others already do.  Remember how well H&H did in my 5 & 5 thread?

Personally I think both H&H and MR are among the greatest albums ever made, I think they're about even when matched together. Once Rising has passed I will have to think hard about which one I want to win.

The battle between Heaven And Hell and The Mob Rules is a tough one and always has been...

For me it's always been the two weak tracks (Wishing Well and Walk Away) that bring that album down in comparison to The Mob Rules that is 100% pure gold...not a single weak song on it.

But on the other hand Heaven And Hell, Children Of The Sea and Lonely Is The Word are among (if not even THE) greatest songs Black Sabbath has ever done...The GREAT tracks on H&H are better than the GREAT tracks on MR...but the inclusion of the weak tracks still has to bring the album down a bit as a whole.

To me THE MOB RULES has been and always will Black Sabbath BEST ALBUM EVER!

It's an interesting excercise when you put the corresponding tracks up against each other.

For me

Neon Knights > Turn Up The Night

Children of the Sea > Voodoo

The Sign of the Southern Cross > Lady Evil

Heaven and Hell > The Mob Rules

Country Girl > Wishing Well

Die Young > Slipping Away

Falling Off The Edge Of The World > Walk Away

Lonely Is The Word > Over And Over

Not counting E5150

I score it 5 - 3 in favour of Heaven And Hell  :) :whistling: :pub:

Honestly my score would look about the same I suppose...Although Die Young and Slipping Away would be a tie.

But as said Wishing Well and Walk Away are so much worse than anything on MR that they do tip the scales.

Man! Die Young is one of my favourite songs by anyone. That beautiful serene opening with Tony's weeping guitar before unleashing a fast and aggressive full frontal assault. Ronnie's melody lines and lyrics work so incredibly well together. Just such a powerful, uplifting and amazingly well crafted song.

I've always had a strange relationship with Die Young...there are times when I absolutely love it and times when I don't...

The live version of it however with the longer guitar solo intro has always been great.

The bass solo on Slipping Away is just as great as the guitar intro on Die young...just wish it would be tad bit longer.

Eliminate Over And Over from the album and I would agree.  Can't stand hearing that one.

Wow...that's interesting. I've always felt that Tony's soloing on that one too is suberb...not nearly as mind blowingly great as on Lonely Is The Word but it is still among his best work ever.

I'm with the Angry Aussie :) Die Young is absolutely one of my favorite tracks of any band, ever.

So here's my match card:

H&H          MR
NK       <   TUtN
CotS     <   V
LE       <   SotSC
H&H      <   E5150/MR
WW       >   CG
DY       >   SA
WA       <   FOtEotW
LItW     >   O&O

I'm 5-3 in favour of Mob Rules as an album.

But I won't vote anymore, either.
