It's strange how your mind works... I was thinking earlier "Now that He Who Shall Not Be Named is in the White House, I wonder if Jon Schafer gets a pardon and can start making music again!" Silver Linings and all that!

Always look on the bright side!

Hopefully Mr. Schafer sticks to making metal tuneage - he now has some new life experiences to draw upon!

Best part about being unemployed are the old buddies that call up, asking how they can help and where they should show my resume at where they work.

That's a good feeling - or so I imagine. To get to where I am in my career, I didn’t just step on others to get here—I stomped on their dreams, shattered their ambitions, and reveled in the panic that swept their eyes when they realized I’d outmaneuvered them. It wasn’t enough to win; I made sure they lost, leaving them no choice but to recognize their inferiority. I whispered encouragements I knew would lead them astray, played the ally until I had my chance, and then took what I wanted without remorse. Their dreams were collateral damage in my relentless ascent, a reminder that in this game, only the strongest and most ruthless survive.

I don't anticipate being the recipient of any "reaching out" should I find myself bereft of employment!

Well Jon's case is already over...so he won't get a pardon anymore.

He got 3 years probation and some 120 hours of community service and a 1000$ fine.

Whether he'll ever get back doing music...that's another story...probably will in some form but I have doubts about Iced Earth though.

I have a LinkedIn account. I have had one for years and years. But quite some time ago, as it changed into a social media site rather than a professional networking site, I stopped participating beyond keeping my job updated.

And cleaning out all of the messages random sales folks send.

This afternoon I noticed a new trend. First, I'll say that companies will more often than not have a young, attractive woman - with the requisite picture of her, do the cold calling. Their messages have always been very professional. But, now I'm seeing where their follow-up messages (because I never respond in the first place so they always send a second or third message over a period of time) contain slightly...weird verbiage.

For example, one I deleted was a second attempt. Her message stated "I hope you don't mind, just bumping my message to the top in case you missed it" (which is common for these things). But then she said this "I added a short video, and I have to admit I feel rather vulnerable doing so. Hope to hear back from you soon."

I didn't watch the video. I doubt it is anything she needs to feel vulnerable about. But, WTF!!!???

Then, a couple of others - with no video - but they both said basically the same thing: "I updated my cover photo for you, what do you think? Please be kind <wink>"

Again...WTF!!!???

Keep in mind, I work for an international freight forwarding company, on the IT side of things. And these people messaging me are from IT service companies.

We're not a casino or topless bar or a brothel.

Same here. Hot dames with crappy contract roles are my bane.

No, they're saving that for the real estate sites.

Trying out a new messaging program called Jami. Anyone ever use it? It's free, and does chat, audio, video, individually, in combination or all three.

Does it have ads, or is it one of those golden age of the Internet applications that is 100% free/share/nag-ware?

Intersting...haven't heard about it. I don't use messaging apps though personally...as I have no one to message with.
