I'm with Typhon, $5000 can get you a lot of car, with less miles. And if you spend a little north of 5K, you can get an even better car, potentially. I'm looking at cars right now since my son totalled the one he was driving (no injuries, but the airbags deployed and there was massive front-end damage) and we'll be looking for something on that cheap side he can use for gettin' around town.
I’ve had this car since it was new it never gave me any problems till now, exactly 6 years to the day I bought it, I’m a sentimental type man, so I’ll be keeping it, despite the cost to fix it, I know it’s a lot, but sentimental value supersedes anything else.

Well in car world sentimentality can get really really REALLY expensive. ;)

I’m willing to take that chance Charger, I think I’ve made the right decision.

That's cool! Hope it all works out and you'll have many more years with the Avenger. Just remember the more mileage you get the more often you should change the engine oil.

Ah... gotta love Yeltsin! He was a cool fellow. Liked his Vodka and didn't have a stick up his ass like Putin.

Walked through that house and caught a whiff of gas... by the shower that didn't work... next to the attic entrance that revealed an exhaust vent near combustibles... and fabric wiring... now we don't want it so much.

But there are other houses to check out, so the search continues!

No, that's just the cow pat you have to avoid on the walk from the gate to the porch. :smug:

My daughter just bought a 3 bedroom ranch, really nice place in a great area. Only 1 downfall, it's got 1050 sq ft of popcorn ceilings. She got 1 quote to scrape all the popcorn off and finish taping the ceiling... $5K  She's going to get a couple more quotes but a lot of contractors/painters don't wanna mess with popcorn 'cause you never know what you'll find underneath. If this kind of pricing holds true, looks like I'll be painting some popcorn. :drama:

The house I use to live in had a popcorn ceiling in the main room.

No popcorn in my current or future house, thank goodness.

Seller accepted the offer yesterday, and we are getting all the financing in place. We close on 26 June.

My daughter is also close to getting out of her apartment and into a condo. It's so much better to be paying a mortgage instead of rent.

Congrats to your daughter.  Best way to go, pay your own mortgage instead of someone else's.  8)
Did you ever consider building the house you want, Zzz?  That's what I did.

I've actually been 26 years at my current house, and we were looking at doing some major renovations. We would have had to move out for them, and my wife one day said, "Why not just move once?" She pretty much wanted something ready to move into.

There are a number of properties around here that were bought for the lots and then the buyers tore down the houses on them. Myself, I'd much rather find a mid-century modern house and show it some love and care in replacing the electric and plumbing systems, adding insulation, and shoring up any foundation work, and then keeping it looking good as 1958 new. There are a few properties like that around where I live, and it's always a treat to drive past them.
