How do you listen to music?
« on: August 29, 2018, 01:02:49 PM »
I don't think we've talked about this here yet.

So how do you guys listen to your music?

From a cd or do you prefer digital or are you old school?

I pretty much only listen to CDs. I do have some music in mp3 format on my phone that I can listen to when I run on my treadmill but that's about it.

In my car I have a cd changer.

I do collect LPs as well but I have no real way of playing them so they are just collectibles.

On CD, Vinyl and Itunes. Sometimes I will listen to Youtube album streams.

Mostly though it is CD as that is my preferred format for consuming my musical loves. I have a small Sony Bookshelf stereo and I also have the components to  make a really great stereo - but I cannot play my music very loudly so I have not bothered putting it together.

At the moment I listen to MP3s on a Sony Walkman (usually when I'm working out). I would much prefer to have a quality hi fi system and listen to music through that (it would be CDs mainly but I might start on vinyl again)... but I need more space (and, not unrelated, more money!!)

MP3s, all the way, here. They're portable and I do a fair amount of travel, so it's the best way to take my entire library with me everywhere I go.

CDs all the way.
In the vehicle, the actual cd.
In the house, technically the cd, but they have been ripped into the computer for easy click and play.

I'm a CD guy. When I get a CD I rip it into my computer "lossless" and burn a copy "lossless" for use and then store the original away.

At home, Vinyl, iTunes and Spotify. When I'm out and about its iTunes and Spotify. Can't remember the last time I listened to a cd.

An audiophile like you must hear the difference between your vinyl and the compressed format of iTunes, no?

I used to do that, then I got USB drives that had a higher capacity. When I was driving 100 miles a day (total), I would go through a 2GB drive every 3 weeks or so, so I made monthly themes with them.

Now I'm changing over to my phone with playlists I edit on my PC, but I have the USBs just in case.

Same here. Although I do have some mixed cds too mostly mine an compilations...which I overhaul everytime a band releases a new album...which does remind me I still haven't done a new Megadeth collection series after Dystopia...I guess I gotta go and buy some cds again.

I really only listen to music at work or in my car. So basically for that reason I listen on my phone using Spotify.

Okay so looks like I forgot to add that spotify thing as I personally have never used it nor will I ever use it.

I'll add that option in then so all you who use it can vote that then!

My 2 vehicles are not new enough to have that technology.  Otherwise, I would use the USB drive.
