Anyone here like the new Ozzy song Straight To Hell?

I think Ozzy's vocals are over processed.
The song just seems over-produced. Cliche lyrics and cliche sinister laughs and whacky sung phrases which was a trademark of Ozzy in the past but just comes off a bit cheesy and a derivative in 2019. They were suppose to have recorded this album in 4 weeks so was expecting it to sound a little more organic and live but it's been ruined by everything that's been added on in production.  Melodies and song structure is fine on these two new songs but I want Ozzy to sound a little more natural like he did on 13 and the music stripped back like it would sound performed live.

Maybe this album will grow on me like Scream did but atm I'm a disappointed with what I'm hearing.

I’m liking both singles and think Ozzy has improved his voice since Scream, you have to remember Ozzy is a lot older now.

Just got around to listening to it for the first time. It's not great but it is probably better than anything off Scream!

Just to compare, when you get old, don't be afraid to sound old. Use it to your advantage, power, and stature.

Consider Johnny Cash:

Keep it sparse, keep it raw. Ozzy doesn't need autotune. He needs material fit for his age.

I always loved Johnny Cash's voice and also loved the way he changed his music to fit his aging voice.

Anyways...only just now got around listening to this Ozzy tune...since the first one didn't do anything to me...

This one is an improvement.

But the production again is HORRIBLE! Ozzy's vocals are way over processed and autotuned to death and that damn echo is driving me nuts.

Slash's guitar work is good though...as usual.

But Jack pretty much summed up my emotions about this as well. Ozzy is trying too much to sound like he did in 1983...and a news flash...it ain't 1983!

Thing is though. The metal community can be absolutely brutal no matter how legendary or iconic someone is and if Ozzy was to let his 70yo vulnerabilities hang out there or did anything that wasn't in line with his heavy rock/metal past he'd be battered from pillar to post. There would be no let up, which is a sad indictment on modern metal fans.

Ozzy could always do a folk-rock crossover, covering Dylan tunes.

I like that idea, I think it would turn out good, like when he did the Lennon songs.

I'd love to hear Ozzy put out some cover tunes. Done right, he could be the Government Mule of Heavy Metal.

My album of Ozzy covers, should anyone put me in charge of the project and we can get the rights to the tunes... I'd go for songs from the early 70s, with an eye towards ones that would be reminiscent of the Sabbath Bloody Sabbath work. If they also have a witch or a wizard or black magic in the title, so much the better. I'd want them also to be tunes that would be fine with an aged voice and pared-back instrumentation, as in no string sections, synthesizers, or other ulterior motives. Here's my list:

1. The Wizard - Uriah Heep
2. Roundabout -Yes (Get Rick Wakeman to play on this, dude!)
3. Pictures of Home - Deep Purple
4. Black Magic Woman - Santana
5. Witches' Promise - Jethro Tull
6. Gallows Pole - (Led Zeppelin made this traditional tune famous with their arrangement, I'd like to hear Ozzy's vocal on something similar. This, or a duet with Ann Wilson on The Battle of Evermore.)
7. Dear Mr. Fantasy - Traffic
8. Flowers of Evil - Mountain (It would sound like "Changes" at a faster tempo and in a major key... the lyrics would go perfectly with Ozzy's voice worn with time)
9. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
10. Crazy - Seal (OK, this one isn't early 70s, but it's a monster track, and I think it's well within Ozzy's range, even if it has to be dropped an octave.)

Last night I was watching my recording of a show (America's Funniest Home Videos) which was broadcast on 11/24.  During a commercial break, there was an ad for the American Music Awards which was to be shown live right after AFHV.  In the list of featured artists in the ad was Ozzy.  Does anyone know if Ozzy performed a song at this award show?
