^^^ Very difficult question... Right now i think i'll have to go for Wings. Ask me another day it might be Sin. A third day it could be Stained.
Wings is the one with the strongest 70's Hard Rock/"not quite Metal yet" feel that i love, though, so i think i would answer that most days...

How about you?

I'm with you in that they are hard to seperate but I would put Sin After Sin a clear third though, but the other two could change on any given day.

I love the mournful depressing mood of Sad Wings and the airey 70's production, Glenn and K.K. pretty much invented that twin guitar attack duelling solo's style on that album. Stained Class is little more metalized for lack of a better word and a precursor to what they ultimately become in the 80's but still very much has a foot in that 70's sound and style.

Both are landmark albums.

Both are landmark albums.

All three. They very much belong together, and show the development of Priest, and hence Metal, in a very good way. They would've been curriculumin in a Heavy Metal study.

Sin After Sin for me - just tore me a new one when I first heard it. There is no truer Metal than Priest.

I'd be surprised if those three don't end up high in the top 10 of the h&h game...

Honestly I've never liked Stained Class...part from Exciter and Beyond The Realms Of Death this album isn't really doing it for me.

All three have some real stinkers on them but all of them have some absolute monsters as well...all are classic for sure but hardly best the Priest has to offer.

Have a couple of bourbons Charger, chuck on Stained Class and crank it loud. Or through a good set of headphones....The album is straight up incredible!

Nah...I've listened to it enough honestly.

I've never had a huge ammount of love for any of the 70s albums...like I said all of them have fantastic songs on them but also some that are not. Before Defenders I don't think they made a 100% perfect album.

Going through Sweet Baby James by James Taylor. Not entirely what I expected, thought it would be a lot softer. Calling it an interesting surprise and carrying on through it.

Listened to these back to back. Perfect Strangers is such a great Deep Purple album. I saw then on that tour so listening to it always evokes great memories of that time.
The first side of The House Of Blue Light is a little pedestrian and uninspiring but I've always quite enjoyed side 2.
