We had SNOW this morning!!! Not really cold enough for it to settle... but still....!!

Temperature dipped below freezing last night for the first time this season.
It was pretty darn cold in the castle.

We get to proper seasonal coolness around Wednesday, when the high gets to just 60F. 77F right now in Dallas...

Well the cold is giving up to some nice warmth coming in from the south west! Next two weeks we should be above freezing again which is GREAT!

It'll drop down to freezing overnight later this week, nice cool weather. We need a good freeze to cut down on the mosquitos, hope it comes soon.

We picked up six inches of snow today, the first snowfall of the season.

And while the notion of a snowfall at Christmastime has been romanticized to the point where people actually want the white stuff to fall on their heads on or about that day, any other snowfall is met with dread, save by children who stand to miss a day of school because of the occasion.

I got a buddy in North Dakota who absolutely hates the stuff. He works at the Department of Transportation, so that hate is deeply felt and varied. Not only for his own sidewalk and drive that have to be cleared, but for all the roads in the state that need plowing and re-plowing.

As a boy growing up in semi-rural Missouri, even I heard the stories of that frozen hell-drain called North Dakota. It's basically the continent’s personal cryogenic oubliette, a bleak, wind-flayed wasteland. The roads are an ongoing physics experiment in frictionless surfaces, and every winter commute feels like a contractual obligation you never remember signing.

Props to your buddy for keeping the rest of the world safe from North Dakota!

The seasons in North Dakota:

Summer: 0930 on July 28th through 1845 on July 28th

Winter: The rest of the year

Spring: Due to geography and/or Curse of Rambutan there is no spring

Fall: Nope, no fall either

Or so I've been told. I'll not be risking my mental and physical well being to find out in person.

@Charger - I'm just curious, have you ever experienced an extra hot day in your life?  Say, 90^oF (33^oC).

Hmmm...

I know for a fact we've had over 31C....last summer I think we had couple of days of over 31 during mid day... but I am not sure we've gone above 33...

Those temps aren't totally uncommon here, but usually they only last maybe a day or two...even during heat waves...the temp is usually around 30C...

Imagine a heat wave where the *low* is 33C in the morning, and it goes up from there, but not by as much as in Arizona, on account of the humidity.

Bad as that is, I'll take it over bitter cold. Heat is uncomfortable. Cold is painful.

@Charger - Well, then I'm sure you never experienced over 100^oF (38^oC).  It happens on rare occasions where I live (2 days last summer), and a number of times when I have been to Las Vegas.

I guess you have no need for air conditioning.

Agreed.  However, I'm a slender guy.  I can't tell how heat like that would feel to others who are overweight.
