Got up to 41C here in Dallas - around 105-106F. My back porch thermometer read 111F, which would be 44C, or FRIGGIN HOT for comparison.

For the next couple of days the high here will be just above 90^oF (33^oC).  Not Texas temps, but higher humidity for sure. Not that I'm complaining.

I heard that an airport in the UK got shut down because the tarmac surface at the end of the runway had melted and there's concern about train lines buckling in the heat, since the materials aren't spec'd for temps like they're having.

Bit warmer here today as well...clocking at 20C (68F) but very windy again...should be warm few days then on the weekend the rains and cold return again.

29 monitoring stations around the country have broken the old UK high temperature record today (it was 38.7C). While the new high is still to be verified, it would appear that the new high is 40.3C in Lincolnshire.

We topped out at 100 F even today. That is supposed to hold for the next few then we're supposed to enjoy 105 F. With 85% humidity.

The heatwave you've been dealing with, KDC, has been a topic of conversation at work the past couple of days. We have a couple of agents in the UK specifically, and they've been commenting with amazement at it as well. I was told that normally the highs are 70-80 F?

As a high there are always places in the UK which will get to 90F / 33C during a summer season.

But 80F / 27C is very much as high as we would go for most areas. I'm a person who doesn't like it much above that total!

Summer came back for few days...today's high was around 27C (80F) and should be warmer tomorrow...the last hurrah of summer?

Summer ending so soon? Oh, wait, you're not in Texas, that's right... ours will go on as scheduled and then some. I'm wondering how late our last 100-degree day will be this year...

Looks like I'll have a much higher electric bill for July.  Usually I only use the AC a little bit at night in order to sleep.  But these days I have had to use it for some daytime hours in other parts of the house. (Not that I'm complaining.  )
