Yeah Number and Powerslave are pure gold...Piece Of Mind has few weaker tracks but it also has some real killers like To Tame A Land which is one of their finests. I also absolutely love The X Factor, but I know with that I'm in the minority eventhough it has gained much more love in the past few years than ever before. Also Virtual XI has some real killer tunes including my all time favourite Maiden track The Clansman...which I think was their last really good epic song. Dream Of Mirrors is good but it has bit too much repetition..

I literally never listened to anything from Iron Maiden after Somewhere In Time, until relatively recently. So their catalog post 1986 or whenever is like new stuff to me.

The only reason Billy even talked to me was because I love the Di'Anno era.

Also, I hate Queensryche.

How could you NOT like this awesome heavy metal combo out of Seattle? All the kids are talkin' 'bout them! :smug:

I never understood why Billy ever talked to me as I hated DiAnno... :/ I think he just felt sorry for me and thought even the likes of me deserved someone to talk to...who knows...
Gosh I miss Billy though.

I love Operation Mindcrime but other than that I never really got into QR either...not that I hate them...but I'm rather indifferent.

Maybe we need a QR thread... back to Iron Maiden here, "Still Life" is the best Iron Maiden song. Convince me I'm wrong.

I. "Still Life" is the best Iron Maiden song

II. Queensryche sucks

Therefore, "Still Life" can't be the best Iron Maiden song

Damn. Well, I'm ready to cut Queensryche (pronounced queens-rick-ee) free to get that Maiden tune back on top.

One can only hope it'll be better than the first one which was a serious snoozefest.

I’m really pumped for the new album. It’s good to have something positive to look forward to amongst all the negativity the world has had to endure the last 18 months.

We really should be embracing that we have these iconic legacy bands still around producing new music and still playing live at a high level. Quite depressing to think what we’ll be left with representing the scene/genre once these iconic bands are gone.

I'm not worried. There is SO MUCH out there that's worth digging to find and, with the Internet, we can find it much easier now.

For example, I just found Riot. What a revelation! And there are more bands from the era out there, I just need to look.

I do my oldies show, and I'm still uncovering great tracks from that era that my oldster audience never knew about because they didn't live where a song was a regional hit or something like that. Or it was a song that never got marketed properly or was a b-side or whatever, but it's a great track and I'll play it because I found it and thinks that it deserves some sunshine after so many years in the dark.

And I'll also play some solid material from 21st Century artists that are recording with fidelity to the old school sounds. I know that there are bands out there right now making music that slots in real nice for the 80s metal sound - War Cloud is a great example of one such, worth a trip over to Bandcamp to check them out.

Riot band was a beast back then.
After discovering Riot with the Monsters of Rock compilation ablum, I rushed to the Live album.
A fantastic new singer Rhett Forrester who replaced Guy Speranza . Too bad thses two guys left us much too soon : Forrester was shot and killed in the street when he was 37.

^ Exactly, there's more of that out there, we just have to learn about the guys that didn't get lucky enough to get a video on Headbanger's Ball or some other break like that.

Here's the new track "Stratego" :

After listening for the first time, I will wait a bit and listen to it several times before giving a first opinion.
