This the thread to talk about one of the biggest Heavy Metal bands in history.

Let's kick this off with a simple question:

What is your favourite Maiden album?

I would have to say it's a pretty close 3-way tie with The Number Of The Beast, Powerslave and The X Factor...depending on my mood it can be any one of those...

Number of the Beast or the debut album. But I stopped paying attention to them after power slave.

The first album is fantastic, but it quickly went downhill from there, esp. after Brucie entered the scene. From Numbers onwards they've more or less just re-released the same album over and over. And yes, i know my opinion is in the major minority... :)

For a long time it was Piece of Mind or Powerslave, but these days I might just have to go with Dance of Death. It's not perfect (what Maiden album is?) but there are 6 tremendous songs on it which are as good as they get.

Wow! Bold choice. I quite like Dance Of Death too... My favourite tracks are: Wildest Dreams, No More Lies (even if it is a wannabe Clansman), Dance Of Death, Gates Of Tomorrow (although it copies Lord Of The Flies intro) Paschendale and Journeyman....all great tracks.

I know Billy's not a fan of post S/T album, which is wonderful but would be a whole lot better with a singer that could actually sing! :D

Oh I didn't know that singers inability to sing was the corner stone of rock... :P

Thanks to the Irons, I got into Free and Paul Kossoff. Kossoff was cited as a big influence for Dave Murray in an article, so I had to go and find out... for that, I thank them!

Their first to stand the test of time. NOTB does, to an extent. I used to love Piece of Mind, I don't so much anymore. Powerslave is better now than it was then.

I bought Somewhere in Time when it came out. I still have it, and if I ever listened to it I don't recall.

I don't believe I've heard anything from any of their material released thereafter.

Just going back to this to show how there are times where you can make money on betting that I'm going to be the opposite of Billy. Not all the time, but enough to where you're going to win that bet, over time. :)

Not a Di'anno fan, here. Bruce Dickinson is my preferred Maiden singer. :headbanger:
