Judas Priest
« on: February 16, 2018, 12:07:53 PM »

So Firepower is coming out next month.

We've heard two songs from it...neither have been great but not bad either. Firepower is musically pretty awesome but Rob really halfassed his vocal melody there...same thing he did with the title track on the previous album.

Ofcourse there's also Glenn's Parkinson's which is really really really sad...

Don't know much about Andy Sneaps guitar playing skills but I am rather sure if Glenn hand picked him for his replacement he can't be all that bad.

But now for the big question that is in everyone's mind:
Should Priest now finally hang it up after this tour?

I say yes.

Some bands can rock into their seventies... but those octogenarians... I've heard men say, "Oh! To be 70 again!" Eventually, people have to realize that they've had their run and it's time to bow out.

Happy for them to release the album and go on a long world tour.... Then I would like to see them bow out. 2/3 of the songwriting team has gone. It's pretty much Halford solo band now.

Yeah Jack I agree...this should be their last tour....and maybe end it with a big show with Glenn doing few songs and then bring KK and Tim back to do few songs too...

But I know that won't happen...KK won't come back as long as Jayne Andrews is involved.

KK recently posted that he thought he might have been asked to step in for the tour. Which led to that whole misinterpretation that Rob thought KK meant that Andy Sneap played Glenn's parts. Would have been nice for him to have been asked, but it never would have happened given the current situation.

Indeed...I found it rather interesting and sad really. KK was ready to bury the hatchet (if there even really was one to bury) but then again he did leave on his own so I can also fully understand why the band might not have even considered him.

I love Priest but sometimes it is better to bow out then continue on in a diminished capacity and soiling your reputation.
I am not even that interested in the new album, although I will be buying it as I have all the other JP albums and they are basically a automatic purchase.

Seems the album is getting nothing but positive reviews which is encouraging but I'll take them with a grain of salt until I give it a good & proper listening myself.

It's out Friday here but I preordered a fully signed vinyl from pledge music and that's gonna take at least a couple of weeks to arrive once it's shipped so will pick up the limited deluxe cd mediabook edition until then.

It's out on friday here too...I preordered the digipack cd a long time ago too...I doubt I'll be getting it before the release date though...and taking into consideration to speed(less) of the Finnish postal service I'll be lucky if I'd get it even during next week...

It's been getting really strong reviews but honestly I really don't read much into them...I have quite often found myself disagreeing with a lot of reviewers on a lot of bands and albums.

EDIT:
Got a surprising e-mail just now. My cd has been shipped...so I should actually get it on monday!  :wootwoot:

Priest kicked off the tour last night...

Rob sounds pretty decent here actually....but for a band that had one of the most iconic guitar duos in the world....this just isn't the same anymore...Andy Sneap really really really doesn't belong here...

Love that song, so glad they've finally played it. Apparently the setlist was cut a little short due to a few technical issues which might explain there only being 3 new songs in the set.

Andy does look a little out of place but someone had to fill in for Glenn and as long as they're nailing their parts I don't mind who it is.

Loving Firepower btw.

Same here - and I agree with the idea that they should knock out this tour and leave on top.

Pretty cool:
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/judas-priest-scores-first-u-k-top-10-album-in-38-years-with-firepower/

Judas Priest has made their first Top 10 UK chart entry since the British Steel album.

I can imagine Glenn's situation has caused a lot of publicity to the band and boosted the sales quite a bit. Also the fact that this might very well be the last ever Priest album hasn't hurt either..
