Australia reached the total comparatively easily with an over to spare, some big hitting at the end.

So Jack gets the first part of his his wish... the final on Sunday is between New Zealand and Australia. It's a 14:00 GMT which can't be good for either country!

So today is the final, starting at 14:00 GMT, it is New Zealand vs Australia

That start time is overnight for both countries, might be one of the biggest post-midnight viewing figures for them!

Come on NZ.... :-X :P

I won’t be watching it but if I wake up in the middle of night I’ll check the scores. Australia has a great record against New Zealand in big games so hopefully that continues.

NZ closed on 172-4. I think they would have hoped for a few more with 3 or 4 overs to go, I thought 190-200 was on the cards. The Aussies managed to keep it tight at the end.

Yeah, I just checked again and was a little surprised to see NZ done at 172.

Australia needs 173 in 19.4 overs to do the job.

Comfortable win for the Aussies reaching the total with more than 1 over left and only losing two wickets.

So congratulations to Australia. They managed to raise their game for the finals.

They only lost once in the group stages when they were hammered by England...so maybe, technigally we should be considered the winners! ;)  :whistling:

Yep, I actually woke up when Australia was 1/40 after 5 overs, then woke up again and watched the last 3 overs and the winning runs. Watched em get the trophy as well. Great win, 173 was a competitive total by NZ but Australia found form at the right time of the tournament and when it counted most, unlike perennial chokers England :P   :-X

Australia have a lot of talent in that team but it was just a matter of putting it all together and finding their confidence & form which had been missing the last 18 months.

Next up: I’d like to say it’ll be a 5-0 whitewash of England in the Ashes series but don’t want to be too greedy so I’ll say 4-0  :D

Also the next T20 World Cup which is only a year away is on Australian soil so back to back titles could be on the cards  ;)

Only 4-0? Do you think the 5th will be rained off?

We do have Stokes back!  :beerbang:

Yep there’s usually a rain interrupted draw in there somewhere.

T20 World Cup this time in Australia is upon us again with some preliminary games already underway.

Expecting the strongest countries in world cricket to figure prominently at the business end of the competition.

Australia
England
India
Pakistan
South Africa
New Zealand

I’m tipping England to take it out. They’ve been strong in the T20 format for a few years now and their lead up form has been impressive. Can’t rule Australia out on home soil but their form has been a little patchy and host teams usually don’t win World Cups.

India & Pakistan the best of the rest.

It sorta snuck up on me!

I see it's the preliminary competition at the moment to see who goes through to meet the big boys, surprised to see West Indies and Sri Lanka in those groups, but I suppose they've been off the pace in recent years.

Looks like the Netherlands are good to progress from Group A not sure on the second team. But everyone in Group B is in with a shout of progressing having each won one and lost one.

I won't tip England this time, I'm not sure they've been *that* consistent, and you really can't look beyond Australia on home soil!
