The week of sadness continues...

Dusty Hill, bassist with ZZ Top, has died age 72.

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/zz-top-bassist-dusty-hill-dead-at-72/

The band's Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard said in a statement: "We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ TOP fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the 'Top'. We will forever be connected to that 'Blues Shuffle in C.' You will be missed greatly, amigo."

Outside of their 1980s albums Eliminator and Afterburner I was never a huge fan, but I always had a soft spot for the band.

^^^ Same here , plus their last album La Futura produced by Rick Rubin. I really enjoy it.
the guy and his band will always be part of the soundtrack of the first half of the 80's and a legendary appearance in Back to the Future Part III: how can we separate them from Seamus McFly, "Clint Eastwood", the problems of Tannen's agenda and an overboosted locomotive ?

R.I.P Dusty Hill.

And there is the third one... damn.

I've never been much of a ZZ Top fan but when their songs come on the radio it's always good times. Their music always was that kind of good times rock 'n roll.

Pretty damn sad week in the world of rock/metal this turned out to be...I don't remember another one quite like this...and shit..it's only Wednesday!

I've been a big ZZ Top fan, starting with Tres Hombres. They got back to their roots after the 80s - Rythymeen is a good one to check out from their later period.

But, yeah, this is a sad, sad week for sure.

Wow! Another huge loss. Only saw ZZ Top the once back in 2011 and they were awesome!

I echo Z’s thoughts on “Rhythmeen” being a great later album of there’s to check out. Also the doco “That Little O’l Band from Texas” made by Banger films is well worth checking out as well. They were so much more than just those 80’s hits.

Such a tragic week for Hard Rock & Metal.
