Bees can be a real annoyance...I've had few swarms go by but luckily none that have stuck around. And unlike wasps they're quite useful so you dont want to kill 'em.

Exactly, which is why I'm thankful for bee relocation services.

I recently improved the speed at which my computer runs by disabling an application that can take up some CPU time.  It is the Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser.

Microsoft claims the feature is part of the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program in Windows operating systems that collects and sends data about your computer’s hardware, software, and usage to Microsoft.  It is suppose to help Microsoft understand how software and hardware components interact with their operating system, enabling them to provide better support and make improvements in future updates.

The only problem is it can considerably slow down your computer from time to time.  By default the feature is enabled, so here is how to turn it off permanently.

From the Start Menu Search icon, type “Task Scheduler“, when the same app appears in the search results, click to open it.  In the Task Scheduler window, navigate to the following path on the left-hand side:

Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Application Experience

On the right-hand side, you’ll see a task named “Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser“, right-click on it, select Disable and you are done.

As far as I am concerned, if Microsoft wants to receive information from my computers to see how their operating systems are running, then they can pay me.

I just checked that. Mine was enabled... I disabled it too. Although I haven't really had any major issues with slowing down..

Thanks for the hint.

Microsoft had better pull it's head out of their asses because what they have done with Xbox and windows 11 defies logic and basic common sense.
I am a user of both Sony and Microsoft and I honestly think that the Xbox is a great machine for gaming and as a entertainment hub but Microsoft just keeps focusing on AI.
I bought a Playstation 5 last black Friday and I still haven't gotten it hooked up
There are just no compelling games for either system and now that both companies are raising prices left and right I think that I am being priced out of gaming
I also suggest disabling the Microsoft copilot AI app as it really gobbles up memory and also gigabytes of the hard drive are used for stability

Thanks for the tech tip! I'm all about disabling stuff that doesn't need to be running.

I had a post somewhere here about turning off copilot, there were two tools I ran to rip all that stuff out and keep it out. The second one came with a warning that MSFT will try to get it back in and work around their tool in order to do it, so there's an update war going on between MSFT and people that want to use Windows like they did back in the 90s.

Microsoft will end up making Co-Pilot a baked-in part of the operating system that can't be removed or turned off. About 5% of my computer time is spent on a Windows machine and they're trying to make even that be too much of an annoyance.

There are two cats that hang out in my backyard. If they keep the squirrels away from the tomatoes, they are welcome visitors.

I give them an "E" for Enthusiasm. But they get a "C" for Crimes Against Humanity. As I was watching it and marveling at the complete ridiculousness of it all, here comes Liberace traipsing out, stating, "Hello young folks..." and I had to shut it down. I could no longer properly shield my psyche.
