I've been feeling especially happy today. I was getting a drink at the convenience store and there was a dad with his kids, getting waters and snacks for the day. The kids were so nice and smiling, I asked if I could pay for their snacks. Dad said yes, but the kids had 30 seconds to get their snacks.

Dad's counting down, kids are trying to figure out what they want and scrambling and they got their chips on the counter with a few numbers left in the countdown and everybody there cheering them on.

I bought a bicycle!

I haven't been on a bike since the 90s so this was a big step...I have been thinking about getting back on the saddle (literally) for a while now but haven't really done anything about it...well my cousin who is a hardcore cyclist has bought 3 new bikes in the past year or so said he'd get rid of one of his older more basic bikes that he bought new few years ago but has only ridden like under 200 miles....and we made a deal for 80€ on it.

So now I have a bike...and soon we can see if the old saying is right about it's like riding a bike...I have a feeling I'd need some training wheels but we shall see...

Had a sick day yesterday.

Feeling better today.

Since my regular prescription is holding on my glasses, I went ahead and made this year's pair a computer set of lenses. That is to say, it's a normal progressive lens, but with no distance on it. That means more area for viewing and that means finer gradation between angles and that means WOW I can see things much more sharply. Specifying the amount of distance between me and my screens was important, and the optician nailed it on this pair. If you're like me and wear progressive lenses and work a lot with screens, consider a pair. You can't drive in them, but you can read much more clearly.

Been trying to salvage a buddy's PS4 that died...had no luck, but I did change the harddrive and then managed to reinstall the operating system...seems to be working fine now...BUT I need to try to see if I can hook up the old harddrive as a USB drive into the PS4 and see if I can salvage some his in game videos...that might be an impossible task but I did just order an adapter for SATA -> USB so once that arrives I can try....

It's fun to dabble with these when there is no chance things could get any worse!

Looking at getting solar panels for the house. There are incentives to do so from the electric utility, given that Texas' grid is shite and anything we can do to offload demand is good for it. Given that demand is highest when the sun is brightest, it's a fairly straightforward proposition.
