This was as great as I remembered it. Top class actors all around. Connery was exceptional. 9/10

Another great film, indeed.

Indeed one of my all time favourites!!

Based on actual events, a U.S. Customs official uncovers a money laundering scheme involving Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.  Good drama and performances. 8/10

Based on the true story of Forrest Tucker and his audacious escape from San Quentin at the age of 70 to an unprecedented string of heists that confounded authorities and enchanted the public.  Not as interesting as I had hoped. 6.5/10

I have not laughed like I did watching this farce in ages and it felt damn good. Very entertaining, not including the cringy ending that was the major flaw however. 7.5/10

Well, I'm definitely not a big fan of MCU.

Two girlfriends on a summer holiday in Spain become enamored with the same painter, unaware that his ex-wife, with whom he has a tempestuous relationship, is about to re-enter the picture.  Entertaining story by Woody Allen and beautiful women certainly make it even better. 8/10

I saw a couple of films in recent days.

Horrible Histories: The Movie - Rotten Romans, a spin off from the popular young adult TV series - Horrible Histories - the film finds Nero whose desire it is to crush an uprising in Britain led by Boudicca, and rid the world of his meddlesome mother (Kim Cattrall), there's also a young Roman who commits a misdemeaner and gets sent to Britain as punishment. He gets involved with a Celtic tribe where a young woman who desires to be a warrior like Boudicca tries to prove herself against the wishes of her father (Nick Frost).

One of the things Horrible Histories tries to do is get the historical facts correct whilst making the tales fun for the target audience, so I'm guessing this was at least superficially acurate. The film has a lot of jokes fired hard & fast at the viewer, some work, some don't. The production values are quite low but for this type of film that's not too important. The acting solid if more TV standard than great film acting, in fact this film came across more as an extended TV episode than a film. Still it was quite enjoyable. 6/10

The second film we saw was Hobbs & Shaw, the spin-off from the Fast and Furious franchise. I'm not a huge F&F fan but I was looking forward to this one because Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Shaw (Jason Statham) are the only characters I like from those films... and no one else from those films is present... hooray!. The cast is filled out with Idris Elba (the villain), Vanessa Kirby, Eddie Marsan and a few cameos including Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Hart and Helen Mirren.

The plot is a nonsense evolving a programmable virus capsule which Shaw's sister (Kirby) has injected into herself to keep it hidden and must be removed within 48 ours or it will leak and devastate humanity. But the plot is not why you go to see a film like this, you want to see action set-peices, big explosions, big fights and in this film Johnson and Staham bickering like an old married couple. 8/10

When a meteorite lands near his family farm during a storm in Tennessee, the son of a struggling farmer believes it's connected to strange plague-like events afflicting the crops, the farm animals and even the family themselves.  The only Curse here, is having to watch this movie. 2/10

rare are the actors who can carry a movie like Mads. He does it again with his immense talent.
Only two actors with very few words but still a great survival movie.

Watched Crazy Rich Asians last weekend.

Ostentatious displays of production values and then a Hollywood happy ending.

I much preferred Devdas, where the class issues lead to a heartbreak of an ending... brilliant adaptation of the material from the original novel, tremendous score, and top-notch acting from Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Kiron Kher, and of course the great Shahrukh Khan.

Recently added to my Hammer collection.  An archaeologist and two companions stumble upon a lost city in East Africa, run by a beautiful queen whose love holds the promise of immortality.  Good performances all around. 7.5/10

Totally ridiculous it was still very visually striking and filled with artistic fluid action sequences. The story was garbage though and Matt Damon seemed to be half asleep throughout the whole ordeal. 5/10
