I had been waiting for awhile to see this one and I was not disappointed. A bit better than the first film it moves along nicely and kept me interested. 7.5/10

I'm still to see either one... I know I should as I too was a fan of the original series back in the day...although my back in the day was the mid 90s when it aired here.

Some interconnecting stories of the challenges of men and women reading or misreading each other.  Well acted with a good cast. 7.5/10

Based on the novel "Heat" by William Goldman, about a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal skills who has a gambling problem. 6/10

We saw The Dreamers (2003) on rental. Set in Paris during the student riots of 1968, it revolves around a visiting American student and a brother & sister -- who are maybe too close for their own good -- who take him under their wing and help him to loosen up. Starring Michael Pitt and Eva Green in her first film role, very little is left to the imagination as full frontal nudity is quite prevalent. The story and acting are ok but it's no masterpeice. I only really watched it for Eva Green, and to be honest she doesn't look as great here as she does in her later films! 5/10

In the US this was released as an NC-17 but an R rated version came out on DVD.

INVADERS FROM MARS

Classic sci-fi film tells the story of little David MacLean who sees a spaceship land on his back yard and burrowing underground. David tells his father about it who then goes to investigate and disappears only soon to return but with a changed personality. After a while David goes around and finds out other people have been turned too but no one believes him untill he meets doctor Blake and his old scientist friend. Soon the military gets involved and there is a fight underground for the survival of mankind.

The times show quite well in this cult film. The music plays a big role like quite often in horror movies of this time. The effects for the most part are actually quite good for the times but the make up department is where an unintentional smile arises but in a good way.

It is rather remarkable how the times of movie story telling has changed in just 65 years or so...Now it's all about the action and effects, back in the day it was the music and the things we did NOT see that build the tension and horror.

The twist in the end is something of a surprise.

1950s was the golden era of what we now consider B-movies and there were some real bad ones out there, and then there were those super bad ones that were so bad that they were funny thus great and then there were the occational good ones too...and Invaders From Mars fall into that category. Sure it is a product of its time but that's not a bad thing.

Fun trivia:
The movie also inspired the Wolfsbane masterpiece of a song All Hell Is Breaking Loose At Little Kathy Wilson's Place.
