I went to see The Grinch this morning. I've not seen any other versions of the film, so it's all new to me! (The 1966 version doesn't get shown in the UK every Christmas and the live action version with Jim Carrey from 2000 I won't ever be seeing because I really can't stand Jim Carrey.)

The story is quite simple, the images are very colourful, and it is thankfully quite short. I was hoping for a family film but it really is aimed at younger children.

I really don't see what all the fuss is about, and the Minions short before the main film was dissapointing too. 4/10

Interesting plot of a woman who is inadvertently evolved into a person with tremendous brain capacity.   The direction which the writer chose to go with this newly acquired brain power combined with way too much shooting and killing left me disappointed overall. 6.5/10

We saw Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald this afternoon. It's quite good, the story is slightly convoluted and obviously left threads open for the next episode. But it is quite fun and interesting with the typical Wizarding Universe tropes and expectations.

Johnny Depp is really good as Grindelwald, he plays it staight and quite creepy. Jude Law works well as Dumbledore and his past with Grindelwald is only hinted at. The returning cast seemed solid but apart from Eddie Redmayne and Ezra Miller seemed less relevant to the story. 8/10
