I know this is supposed to be a classic but I could only get half way through. Martin Sheen was excellent and so were most of the rest of the cast. But on the whole I found this director's cut to be slow and bland.

^^^ Yeah, I found it to be underwhelming too. Not actually bad, but it could have done with a sane Brando... or someone else entirely.

It's a classic but I actually prefer Deer Hunter myself...I've always found AN to be just like you said slow...and it is looooooooooong! I mean the original version already not even to mention the directors cut...

I just gave Apocalypse Now Redux to my neighbour - who is apparently a big fan of it so someone will get some enjoyment out of it.

Agree with all 3 of you guys on AN.  It just goes to show, a good story can be ruined if it is too long.  It's best if you can find a way to split it into 2 good movies.

Recently I watched the 3 Musketeers (reply #308).  Next week I plan on watching the 4 Musketeers.  Originally, these to were suppose to be 1 film.  Half way through production they realized it was going to be too long and decided to make 2 films, and it worked out great.

We saw Mile 22 the other day. It was ok, the twist at the end came from nowhere (which was nice). It's basically a poor mans a Jason Bourne. Iko Uwais (best known for The Raid and The Raid 2) as the agant needing extraction was pretty good though, he knows how to do martial arts. 6/10

And was it just me or did that synthesizer soundtrack just cheese out the whole thing?

This was available on Netflix, thought I'd give it a go.

It's the Russian version of "The Right Stuff". As such, being made in the era of Putin, there's a lot of rah-rah-rah for Russia going on. The propaganda, however, doesn't get in the way of the story, which focuses on the life of Gagarin through a bunch of flashbacks as he spins 'round the world in a tin can with buzzers. I learned about some technical glitches that happened during his flight and got emotionally invested in this kid from Russia making it back safe. SPOILER ALERT: he makes it back, and there was much rejoicing. I was happy to cheer him along. Nice popcorn flick with cool looking space stuff in it. :)

When I get back to the States, I plan to watch Salyut 7 on Amazon Prime, as that's billed as "The Russian Apollo 13".

agree with all the previous comments . I must say that the "french " part with Aurore Clément is just useless .
No need to add more slowness to the whole slowness.

More enjoyable for the romantic type, but still good. 6.5/10
