As the extremely withdrawn Don Johnston is dumped by his latest woman, he receives an anonymous letter from a former lover informing him that he has a son who may be looking for him. A freelance sleuth neighbor moves Don to embark on a cross-country search for his old flames in search of answers.  Odd little film, full of odd, but interesting, characters. 7/10

Bill Murray seems dedicated to odd films with interesting characters. I like that.

In 1970, drug-fueled Los Angeles private investigator Larry "Doc" Sportello investigates the disappearance of a former girlfriend.  Although the film has a strong cast, it is written in such a way that is difficult to follow.  Odd behavior mixed with rambling dialogue for nearly 2 hours and 20 minutes.  By the end, I did not even care what the film was about.  3/10

Perhaps my favorite dystopian hellhole film that I have ever seen. The violence is still guesome and at times painful to watch
As an action movie it takes the usual offerings and dials it up to 11. A classic!! (mic drop)

A truly great comic book turned movie, with tons of charm and over the top violence along with some incredible stunts.

We saw Like A Boss yesterday... what is hopefully going to be the worst film I see this year. We could have watched Emma but the girlfiend wants to see that with her mother; even though she hasn't made any arrangements and probably can't while their dog recovers from surgery! I'm behind on my film watching and I could have done without seeing this shitfest!

Anyway I digress... Like A Boss is a comedy-drama that stars Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne and Selma Hayek, Haddish and Byrne are childhood friends who have set up a beauty salon and together with some employees make and sell cosmetic bundles such as The One Night Stand Make-up Bag. Hayek plays a high flying business woman who wouldn't look out of place on the cover of Vogue. She discovers that the salon is close to bankrupcy and steps in to finance them on the proviso that if the other two fall out she gets a controlling interest in the business. She then plays the two against each other to try and get them to fall out.

The trouble with this is it isn't funny and the drama is slight, and the writers resort to jokes about genitals. I like Byrne and Hayek so I really don't know what they are doing in this turd. The girlfiend thought it was rubbish too!. It's one redeeming feature (other than Byrne and Hayek looking gorgeous) is it is only 83minutes long. Phew!! 2/10

An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between her new life and her old one.  Well acted and convincing. 7.5/10

My family absolutely loves this movie. We're all adults now - daughter just had 18th birthday - but we still love watching this children's movie. It is truly magical, warm, and life-affirming.

If you haven't seen "My Neighbor Totoro", you are missing out on one of the greatest movies of all time.

Got this at the local Walmart for 5 bucks. Now the film itself was a lot more entertaining than the reviews and I was actually impressed with some of it. I hear that the other Wolverine movies are much better, like the very well regarded Logan from a few years back. 7.5/10

I'd rate that one higher than Logan...that was a bit of a letdown..

But honestly as much as I enjoy the character of Wolverine none of his stand alone movies have matched the original X-Men trilogy though..

Nope Logan is the best of the Wolverine movies by a distance and one oh the best comic book films ever. IMHO :P

The first trilogy of X-Men films started well but fell away. The reboot started really well with First Class and Days of Future Past. Apocalypse was weak but watchable while Dark Phoenix was embarrassing... I don't hold much hope for New Mutants later this year.

Disney now own the property and will reboot it again in a few years time. I think a long break and a reboot are very much overdue now.

Nah...the ultra violence and overuse of the f-word ruined Logan pretty much...not to mention reducing Xavier to a blabbering old fool...

It had it's moments but it just didn't feel right... I think I gave it a 3 star rating...

Edit:

Yup:

LOGAN

In 2029 the battered and bruised Logan is making a living as a limo driver and taking care of aging and ill dr. Charles Xavier. He comes in contact with a young girl who seems to resemble himself more than he'd like to believe and is then forced to protect her against an evil corporation who is responsible for the near extinction of all mutants.

Hugh Jackman once again absolutely shines in the lead, maybe now more than ever, but even so he is outshined by the brilliance of Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles. Who also stated that it was this movie that re-ignited his passion of acting and is the reason he wanted to return as Jean-Luc Picard once again.
Dafne Keen as the young Laura also does a remarkable job.

The undertone of the movie is quite melacholic and nothing like The X Men trilogy. Same goes for the R-rating. In fact this movie is quite brutal, unsuitably so even, for a superhero movie. Also the frequent use of the f-word is quite uncharacteristic for a superhero movie and seems bit out of place.

The action here is quite bit smaller and less flashy than what you'd expect from a movie like this...actually that goes with almost everything here. The best moments in the movie are some of the more humorous interactions between Logan and Charles as well as some action sequences where the old Wolverine shows his claws just bit more brutally than ever before.

This is a mixed bag, there are some really great elements that unfortunately get overshadowed by the uncharacteristic elements. Also this is probably the first Marvel movie that does not follow the post credit teaser of the previous installment which also was a huge letdown.

That all being said in it's finest moments this was a good swansong for two of the most iconic characters of The X Men universe. But even so you do end up missing the original vision of Bryan Singer of what the X Men were and honestly the mighty Wolverine and the most powerful mutant who ever was would have both deserved a better finale.

Disney will remake Logan as an animated musical with Laura as a princess-type. :problem:
