About time I kicked off my top 10. Have decided to do up until the year 2000 to make it somewhat easier on myself. Will do 2000 onwards top 10 list when I’m done with this one.

#10

No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith(1981)

Iconic live document in rock & metal and career defining album in the Motörhead catalogue. Not the greatest of recordings sound wise but top notch performances from the classic trio of Lemmy, “Fast” Eddie and “Philthy Animal” Taylor at the peak of their powers.

Okay! My #6... Motorhead - No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith

I don't think we another cover photo! :D

It was the first live album to really impress me. I prefer the versions of Capricorn and (We Are) The Road Crew on here to the studio versions. It could have been longer (a single disc), but not to worry, it's quality rather than quantity.

It was their only UK No.1 album!

Gonna play a bit of catch-up

#9

Speak Of The Devil(1982)

Huge sentimental attachment to this album with it being my introduction to both Ozzy and Sabbath which is a big reason I have it in my top 10. Yeah there’s obvious flaws with it in terms of touch up’s, Ozzy’s double tracked vocals and some songs actually being recorded at a full rehearsal on one of the days of the gigs but it still manages to capture the spirit and energy and Ozzy in all his manic craziness! Brad Gillis with his different playing style was quite an odd choice as well to take on Iommi but I’ve always admired & respected his different renditions of the songs, especially coming in on such short notice.

Would’ve really loved to have heard Randy’s take on these Sabbath classics but sadly it wasn’t to be.

Well Randy had already stated he wouldn't have done it anyways...so even if he had lived it wouldn't have happened...

So at number 7 we have

JUDAS PRIEST - '98 LIVE MELTDOWN

^^I think you’ll find Randy reluctantly agreed to do the live album and one more studio album before bailing to focus on classical studies and teaching.

Also, are you able to do your lists without bagging out other albums or musicians?  :P

You don’t need to justify your picks by bagging on others   ;)

I didn't realise I was doing that...I was just justifying why a certain album deserves to be on the list instead of others from the same band...but okay...I'll stop and just post pictures from now on.

I forgot that I wasn't allowed to do any reviewing...but yeah I remember now. I'll stop. Just pictures from now on.

Edit:
I also edited out the previous ones. My appologies...I tend to forget my boundaries sometimes and try to do things I am not capable of.

But yeah note to myself:
NEVER EVER WRITE A REVIEW OF ANYTHING EVER AGAIN!!!!

That ought to do it. And if I still do ever write a review here it should be an instant ban.

My #6 non-DP is John McLaughlin's Shakti

Incredible, fiery acoustic performance. Blows me away every time I put it on.

My #6 DP choice is...

Total Abandon, from their 1999 Australia tour. My favorite tracks from this performance were "Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming", the big Morse solo, and the radio station changing that went into "Smoke on the Water". From CD2, it's gotta be "Speed King." I was disappointed that there was so little from Abandon on the set, but the rest of the tunes all shone well.

Oh gawd, as soon as I saw Jacks comment (and I don't really understand what bagging is), I knew Charger would over react again.

Charger, you're reviews are great, and people like reading them. You ARE allowed to review stuff, just don't take things so personally if someone queries/critiques something!

KDC is right, of course. :)

It seems that every time I try to review something it just gets blasted...so I for the better of the forum I shall not do that anymore. I'll finish this since I already started but like I said only with pictures and rankings. No more. My reviews are horrid anyways I know.

#5. New Model Army - Raw Melody Men

Their first live album from 1991 is a great finale to the first phase of their career, covering songs from the first five studio albums. A really good selection too, perhaps one or two songs missing I would like to have seen but it's still a full CDs worth of material, so I can't complain.

I also have the 2008 live album "Fuck Texas, Sing For Us" but the song choices aren't quite as strong, but they had a load more albums to choose from so it maybe got watered down a little.

My number 5 non-DP is...

Bugs Henderson - Live at Last

I've raved about this on the Desert Island thread, so I'll let that stand here. But if you like blues-rock, check out Bugs and his crew, for sure!

Number 5 on my DP list...

This Time Around - Live in Tokyo

Of the official Mk4 concert releases, this one's the best, and you get a great treat with Bolin's "Wild Horses" in the setlist. This version has Bolin's guitar part restored, which was out-and-out missing from the earlier release of these tracks, which led to rumors that Bolin couldn't play due to a heroin fix gone wrong. Well, this sets the record straight - Bolin was awesome in Japan, for sure.

The Top 4 are pretty much interchangeable depending on my mood, but at...

#4 Hawkwind - Live Chronicles

Hawkwind did an album in 1985 called Chronicles of the Black Sword, a collaboration with Michael Moorcock to bring his Elric character to life. It's an album I like a lot. This spawned the Live Chronicles tour which brought us this album... which I like even more than the studio album. It incorporates songs off other albums if they seemed to fit the story, as well as one song which only ever appears on this tour Moonglum (Friend Without A Cause), which is one of my favourites and a song I would have loved to hear a studio version of. I saw a version of the show at Conspiracy the 1987 World SF Convention in Brighton... it knocked my socks off!!
