Old Styx was soooooooooooo much better than Big Stage Show Styx.

Styx let Dennis run rampant due to the success of some of his decisions, and Dennis took the opportunity to show the world his true Broadway musical soul. It's like Yes when they got some real international hits under their belt and the label gave them free reign to make their next album. And Tales from Topographic Oceans was the result.

I seriously think that the entire Kilroy Was Here stage performance would have weathered the times better if it had been born as a Broadway show first, rather than as an extension of a rock band's new album.

My last stream of consciousness thought about it: There is a HUGE disparity between Witch Wolf and Mr. Roboto, and not simply the result of a band evolving over time.

It's like Journey before Steve Perry was heavy jam-rock and then they got Perry, did Infinity which was really strong and then... hey dudes, let's be a pop band, whaddya say?
