Haven’t got around to spinning it yet. Did you receive a shipping notice for your reorder?

I wonder why Savatage is skipping Gutter Ballet from the Vinyl re-releases? As Streets seems to be the next one to come out...

Maybe there's some kind of ownership/licensing issue with Gutter Ballet that differs from the others? Does seem to be out of place...

My LP data entry is complete! Quick stats:

1164 total pieces
797 are first pressing originals
121 are white label promotional copies
119 are re-issued pressings
74 have promotional labels (just not white)
21 are half-speed mastered copies
16 are test pressings
6 are bootlegs
5 are picture disks
3 are acetates
1 is a counterfeit (fucking Snake Bite Love)
1 is a puzzle (More Songs About Buildings and Food - it's a promo item, the cover of the LP is a puzzle)

Oldest: May 1956 (I have some 78's and some Edison disk that are like 83rpm, but can't play any of them so didn't count them)
Newest: September 2021

I have some box sets stashed away that I didn't include, and a small stack of 45s I need to get to, but this is the mainline collection. As much as it was a time sink, it was fun to go through all of them. Found a few I forgot I had, didn't find a few I thought I did have lol.

It's a manageable amount, for me. I have storage for them that looks good and I can wrap my head around the number. When I used to run in collector circles I tended to have anywhere from 5,000-8,000 piled up at any given time, and I had the small collection. There were guys that easily had 20,000-50,000 that I knew, and no doubt people out there with much more than that. There's a guy named Mikey Fremer who last I heard (20 years or so ago) had about 120,000. He used to (maybe still does) write columns for Stereophile, and is quite the vinyl audiophile. That man knows records.

Not too long after I got married I got rid of most of my hoard. Sold some, traded some, threw a bunch in the trash.

Only 6 bootlegs? It's like you're not even *trying*... :D

Seriously, congrats on getting the catalog completed. That's got to be a satisfying feeling.

Thanks! I've just started going through my 45s...looks like I have about 20 of them. Nothing special, a couple of promos, but the coolest one is a first pressing on Atco of Young Blood/Searchin' by The Coasters. Looks brand new, and for a mono pressing from 1957 it sounds awesome. I've never been into 45s, but that one was a pleasant surprise, glad I have it.

My mom has thousands of 45s that she transferred to MP3s, which I enjoy digitally.

And it *is* amazing how well some of that vinyl from the 50s held up! Mono is a great format, as well, as you get full sound from the speakers and don't have to go hunting for an instrument. There's a reason many a producer preferred mono recording.
