Yeah it is...also the vinyls are see through so their darkness level depends on the background. Very cool.

Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I-IV. Released in 2008, a bunch of ambient ambience. I have never played these records (there are four of them in a box set). Thought I'd put one on and have some background tunes while I did other stuff.

Opened the box, and was hit with the smell of...PVC reacting with vinyl. Pulled out all four disks (these have never been out of their sleeves since I bought it new back in the day, always played the CD)...here's side A and B of one of them. They all look the same...really glad I don't much give a shit about NiN...I didn't want to subject my record player with this crap, so I figured I'd listen to either Billy Joel's "The Stranger," or Steely Dan's, "Katy Lied". Both known for poor sound, for different reasons :) Went with SD.

I'll say it again, PVC and records are NOT friends!

I had some things I needed to do in the city and thought I'd visit the local record store there that also houses a healthy second hand section and I found this gem:

Witch Mountain - Mobile Of Angels light green colored see through vinyl! Super cool find!

It's April 5th, 1974. The President of the United States was Richard Nixon, who, despite telling everyone he wasn't a crook a few months prior, was order by the IRS to pay a few hundred thousand in back taxes for making "improper deductions" on his personal taxes. Six months later, he would resign the presidency in disgrace.

The average price of a new car in the United States was $4,000, and the average cost for a gallon of gasoline was $0.53. It had been in the 30-40 cent range for a long time, 1974 saw it start to go up constantly such that just five years later it was going for $1.20 a gallon. And then go back down, but never $0.53 again.

If you jumped in your new fuel-conscious 1974 Ford Mustang II and drove down to the local record store on April 6th, 1974, you could buy a shiny new copy of Secret Treaties, Blue Oyster Cult's third long-player. First pressings had a slightly textured cover with an equally slightly off-white background. If you removed the shrink wrap from the cover when you got home with it, by the time Tricky Dick bailed from the White House that off-white background will have turned off-yellow. The kind of yellow reminiscent of a 70 year-old's teeth after sixty years of smoking cigarettes.

And unless you bought one of those new and kept it either in shrink wrap or in a (non-PVC) sleeve, that's how your Secret Treaties album cover would look - yellowish. Try to find one at a used record store, maybe sitting next to the light-green vinyl version of Witch Mountain's "Mobile of Angles", and it would be yellowish.

Damned if I did not happen to find one the other day that has been in its original shrink wrap - and retains its original color! Of course, I am one of those people that take records out of their shrink wrap, but I also place them in a sleeve, so...

Not so much a rarity, but is unusual to find, and is a great upgrade to the dingy, yellow one I've had for years.

Thanks!

One item to note regarding the shrink wrap it was in - the original price sticker was on it: $4.85 from Katz drug store.

I remember Katz; I think they were more of a southern/midwest entity. They morphed into Skaggs (not too long after that record came out, if I recall correctly), then Osco.

I almost kept it on there due to the price sticker - a neat bit of history. But...nah. Sometimes I will cut a sticker/tag from the shrink and keep it in with the record, if it is something interesting, but otherwise, nope.

Well I tried to buy a turn table as one was on a fairly good price...but alas they were (surprise surprise) sold out. Well the search continues.

Couple of EXODUS picture shape vinyl singles.

Both limited editions

Clickbait #125/400
Blacklist #109/400

Ordered from Germany and got both including postage cheaper than just Clickbait here in Finland! So a nice deal I'd say!

Those are so cool! Non-round vinyl fascinates me.

Made a bit of a discovery at a online second hand record store!

And only for 20€ thought it was a pretty good deal.
