Overlooked Gems Of Thrash Metal.

What do you lads think of this collection of overlooked Thrash gems?? I totally agree with Exciter, Razor, Destruction and Onslaught as all those records are masterpieces of the genre.

For the most part I think the list is solid. I've heard almost all of them and in some cases still listen to occasionally a few of those records. I've never heard of Hobb's.

I don't think Exciter or Destruction are "overlooked".

^^Hobbs Angel of Death was an Australian thrash band more in the vain of Possessed. They made a small name for themselves in parts of Europe. I saw them live a couple of times back in the day. The debut is a very much a cult classic in the Australian metal scene. Always thought the band name was stupid. Founder Peter Hobbs passed away just last year.

Agree with Vyn about Destruction not being overlooked and Onslaught’s debut is very much a cult classic. Have never really considered Exciter a thrash band in the true sense though, they had thrash elements but were a little more loose sounding and didn't have the more complex song structures of thrash with the tight palm-muted chugging guitar.

I have 4 of those albums on OG vinyl, actually I think might have a later 80’s Artillery album.

I had Evil Invaders on bass cassette tape back in the day. Never got around to getting in on vinyl though. Was always higher priority metal to buy back then and the more established thrash bands got most of the attention.

Fotsam and Jetsam is thrash??? I thought they were some radio pop band like coldplay or something!

^^They were Jason Newsted’s band before he joined Metallica. Give the album a listen Charger, I think you will like it.

Their latest stuff is still really good too.

I wouldn't really call Vicious Rumors 'thrash', but Digital Dictator is killer. I'd probably have put one of the two Holy Terror albums in there, but I didn't write the list. It's pretty solid all around.

Hobbs' Angel of Death were great, glad I got to see them several times before Peter passed. Snagged an original pressing of their debut some years back from an op shop on the South Coast of NSW (plus a similarly mint copy of Mortal Sin's 'Mayhemic Destruction').
